Hunker in the Bunker - 7 Mar

Hello,

The news from the Battle bunker is that we're about half-way through mixing the album. Holed up with us is Adrian Hall, who worked on three of the 'Back to Earth' tracks. Mr. Hall is a very nice, intelligent and talented man. He is also prepared to hold his ground if we're talking rubbish. At this stage, it's probably what we need. We're all excited by the way things are shaping up. The playing, writing and arrangements are a big leap from what we've achieved so far.

Our next gig is at the Clash Club at The Luminaire, Kilburn on Saturday, March 24th. Please check 'Shows' for more details.

More from the Studio - 13 Feb

Hello,

We're into our last week of recording and things are really taking shape. All the drums and bass parts are down, while the guitars are pretty much all there too. That just leaves the fun stuff- like keys, 'oohs', 'aahs' and percussion. So far we've gone for multiple hand-claps, tambourine, shaker, cabasa, tabla. That's right, Battle have come over all Kula Shaker! Or, maybe not….At one point, Oli was even seen to mic up his stomach in order to obtain 'a hollow, syncopated rhythm'. His words. Interesting.

Film evidence of our recording time is being uploaded to the video section as we go along. And we have some more pictures to show you of our recent demo sessions, courtesy of Ian Miller. We're hoping to capture both the excitement and the banality of the Battle studio experience...Let us know what you think.

Saturday night brings our gig at the Chalk club night at Scala, Kings Cross. We'll be trying out some of the new stuff; details are in the usual places, Upcoming Shows and on our website, www.thisisbattle.com. Buy tickets now to avoid disappointment!

Album News from the Studio - 2 Feb

Hello,

Sorry for the recent news blackout. I wanted to make sure that everything was up and running before I wrote about the latest recording sessions. We're now in the studio working on eight tracks.Needless to say, these will make up the bulk of our debut album! In addition, we've even got a few songs slated for the follow-up. These
are sounding great too, but didn't quite fit the mood...

Overall, things are going well. Jeff Knowler is back on board, tweaking sounds and making useful suggestions. Not only is he a genius, he also has the patience of a saint. After all the delays, this is shaping up to be a really big, bold, sensitive and ambitious album.

I'll write again soon, once we're further along, but for now, enjoy the photos….
