The "relevant news" Band Name Game

Ok a bit of a new one but you may have seen it before

the main idea is to use band name's that are relevant to the situation (these band names can be changed so long as people know the band from what you have said)

there is also a seperate bit for relevant songs (but please state it's a song)

winners will be given to most humourous entries

no prize will be given but they do rise in my self evaluation of them

Franz Ferdinand's 'Blood' version of latest album 'Tonight: Franz Ferdinand' is to be released properly on June 1.

The 'Blood' recut of the record features dub mixes of the band's songs. It was originally released along with limited edition early copies of 'Tonight: Franz Ferdinand' back in January.

Exactly 500 vinyl copies of 'Blood' have already been released to independent record shops throughout the UK to mark Record Store Day (which took place last Saturday, April 18).

Frontman Alex Kapranos told NME.COM the 'Blood' version has become his "favourite" way of listening to 'Tonight: Franz Ferdinand'. The album was mixed by producer Dan Carey.

"What you're hearing is Franz Ferdinand through Dan's filter," Kapranos explained. "There's a lot of his personality in there and a lot of his own experimentation too."

The new version of 'Blood' will include an additional song, 'Be Afraid', a version of 'Dream Again', which did not appear on the copies made available back in January.

Beatles' back catalogue to be remastered for September release

The Beatles' entire back catalogue has been digitally remastered for release this September.

The extensive collection, which features all 13 of The Beatles' studio albums along with the 'Past Masters' compilations, will be released worldwide on September 9 - the same day The Beatles' 'Rock Band' game is set to come out.

A statement regarding the release said that a team of Abbey Road technicians have spent four years remastering the albums in stereo, resulting in the catalogue being available to buy at its highest fidelity since it was first released.

For a limited time each album will contain an embedded link to a special mini-documentary featuring previously unreleased snippets of The Beatles chatting in the studio and archive footage.

Each stereo album will be available to buy individually, or as a collection in a box set.

A further box set of mono recordings - called 'The Beatles In Mono' - is also being released on September 9.

The new collection is the first time The Beatles' material has been remastered for CD since 1987.

It is currently unclear whether the collection will be available digitally. Speaking last month, George Harrison's son Dhani said the group is considering launching its own online application to sell its music digitally.

SHOPPERS browsing for TVs in a Tesco store got more than they bargained for — when the screens started showing porn.

More than 20 flat-screen sets flicked over to a naked couple romping in graphic sex scenes.

The movie ran for five minutes until a worker at the 24-hour store in Bursledon, Hants, wondered why so many customers were by the sets.

The store launched a probe. They believe a cheeky late-night shopper switched channels on a master set with Freeview.

Customer Alan Man, 38, said: “It’s not what you expect to see in Tesco.”

Original member Jimmy Chamberlin moves on

Smashing Pumpkins' frontman Billy Corgan announced today (March 20) that drummer Jimmy Chamberlin has left the band.

The singer did not give a reason for the departure of another original member from the band. In a statement issued today, Corgan simply said, "Jimmy Chamberlin has left the group."

Chamberlin joined the band when it was formed in 1988 and played drums on all of the band's albums except 1998's 'Adore'.

His departure comes despite his claims last year that "we will write and record until we are dead."

Corgan said that he plans to continue recording under the name Smashing Pumpkins, despite being the band's only remaining original member. He intends to head into the recording studio later this spring.
