I haven't been on here since May 6th apparently. I am only here now as my father has warned me that if i do not go on, he will remove me as a friend. I find this a little harsh, as i have been rather busy with finishing Uni, getting a job and then working,

Anyway i'm back now dad. Also i went to see the Arctic Monkeys in June in Cardiff. Awesome gig they really were good, but the venue is far too hot. Special mention to Reverend and the Makers, i only was there for about 3 songs but they looked pretty good. So go see em if you get the chance!

On Wednesday I went to see Maximo Park at the Carling Academy in Bristol - having heard great things about their live performances, and loving both of their albums.

Well firstly the Academy is tiny - and proved to be an awesome venue to see MP. Art Brut supported and were absoulutely shocking - the lead singer didn't actually sing, he just spoke. Good job that Maximo Park didn't dissapoint.

They got everyone going immediately with 'Graffiti' and song off the new album 'Girls Who Play Guitars'. 'Our Velocity' and 'Apply some Pressure' were highlights, but i think the best live track has to go to 'The Coast is Always Changing'. 'Going Missing' closed the set and was absolutely awesome aswell, the crowd going mental, and the band really getting in to it.

The encore included 'Kiss You Better' and 'Limassol' and concluded a good night for all, with all but one of the new songs played. They really did live up to their billing as a great live act - I'd definatly see them again, and i will at Reading in August!!!

Went to see Razorlight on Sunday, and the first thing i have to say is what a venue Earls Court is! It is absolutely massive. Probably 10,000 enjoyed a really good rocking gig.

Unfortunatly the support acts were both rubbish - the second had a woman tap-dancing as their drums and were very weird. Luckily Razorlight didn't disappoint.

Starting with a drum solo before launching into 'In The Morning' the band got the crowd into it straight away. A mad frenzy near the front saw me and my mates on the floor, but promptly back on our feet!

'America' was amazing live as were the other singles off of the new album. My particular favourite of the night was 'Los Angeles Waltz' where Jonny Borrell decided it was time to lose his shirt.

A good mixture of both albums were played, with the main set enfing with 'Get it and Go' and the encore including a brilliant acoustic version of 'Fall,Fall,Fall' and concluding with 'Somewhere Else'.

Overall a really good night and would definatly see them again - and i will at Reading Festival in August!!

Maximo Park -

Having absolutely loved (andi still do) the first album by Maximo Park, i rushed out to my nearest HMV and bought the new one the day it came out. Upon first listen i must admit i wasn't all that impressed. The single, "Our Velocity" definatly impressed, but the rest of the album seemed, well, too laid back.

However upon repeated listening, i have to say that "Our Earthly Pleasures" is a huge 'grower'. The opening song "Girls Who Play Guitars" is a highlight as is "Nosebleed". It is clear that MP have moved on with this album, and that a heavier sound is developed, but the core edge to them that made "A Certain Trigger" so good is still here. I can imagine a number of these tracks really coming alive when MP play live.

So go out and buy the record, and give it a good few listens. After all, on first listen the songs "Sandblasted and Set Free" and "Your Urge" seemed just average, but are now two of my favourite tracks on the album!

Going to see them on the 30th in Bristol, I can't wait!
