This morning, Chris rang BBC Radio 1 to announce that Coldplay are playing a bunch of stadium shows in September 2009. The dates are as follows:

Saturday 12th September - Manchester LCCC
Wednesday 16th September - Glasgow Hampden Park
Saturday 19th September - London Wembley Stadium

Tickets for all three shows go on sale at 9.30am on Friday 28th November. They will be available online from www.gigsandtours.com, www.ticketmaster.co.uk and www.ticketline.co.uk. Guns N Roses' are to preview their new album online today(November 20).

The band's long-awaited record 'Chinese Democracy' will be previewed on MySpace.com/gunsnroses from 5am (GMT).

The album itself â€“ which has taken 17 years to make â€“ will be released on November 24.

The Doors to celebrate Jim Morrison's 65th birthday at LA haunt

Memorial plaque will mark spot where singer urinated on the bar!

The Doors' Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger will be on hand to celebrate what would have been frontman Jim Morrison's 65th birthday at one of the singer's famed Los Angeles hangouts.

The event will take place at Barney's Beanery on December 8 and will be broadcast live by LA radio station KLOS. Morrison, who died in 1971, used to hang out there along with Janis Joplin In the late 1960s. He was later banned from the West Hollywood establishment for reportedly urinating on the bar.

At the event next month, a memorial plaque will be unveiled at the spot where he urinated. Manzarek and Krieger will also sign copies of The Doors' 'Live at The Matrix 1967', which was released Stateside yesterday (November 18).

RCA Drop Velvet Revolver

Velvet Revolver are rumoured to have been dropped from their US record label, RCA.

Blabbermouth.net have been informed by a “reliable” source that the band will not record again for RCA Records, who are an imprint of Song BMG.

Velvet Revolver have been looking for a new singer since the beginning of 2008, when Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland left the group after just two albums.

Various singers have been touted in recent months, including Sebastian Bach, Royston Langdon, Steve Isaacs and a wild rumour that suggested Lenny Kravitz was about to join the group. However, all of the rumours have proved false and with Slash and Duff both currently working on other projects, the future of the band has a rather large question mark hanging over it – despite both Slash and Duff saying that the majority of the album had been written.

Hot Chip and Robert Wyatt team up for free EP

Hot Chip have teamed up with Robert Wyatt to re-record three of their songs, which they will release as a free EP next month.

Wyatt features on new versions of the songs 'Made In The Dark', 'Whistle For Will' and 'We're Looking For A Lot Of Love'. A new version of 'One Pure Thought', remixed by Geese, will be the fourth track on the EP.

The EP will be available as a free download from Hot Chip's website, Hotchip.co.uk, from December 15.

The Putney band got to know Wyatt after remixing his single 'This Summer Night', and, according to a statement, let him choose which of their songs he wished to work on for the EP.

Jeff Beck to play six dates in the UK next year

Legendary guitarist Jeff Beck is to play six dates in the UK next June, it has been announced.

Often named as the greatest guitarist of all time by his peers, this tour will be sure to generate a huge level of interest – especially after Beck’s acclaimed residency at the tiny Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club earlier this year.

Beck recently released an excellent live album recorded during the Ronnie Scott shows, entitled Performing This Week… Live At Ronnie Scott’s.

Tickets for the UK dates are on sale right now. Here are the dates:

Free Tom Jones gig today (November 19)

Tom Jones will take to streets tomorrow (November 19) to perform three songs with an acoustic guitarist.

The singer, who released hits including 'It's Not Unusual'. 'What's New Pussycat' and 'Delilah', will busk in front of the Royal Festival Hall in London.

The performance will be filmed for the Culture Show on BBC2 as part of their British Busking Challenge - which features artists performing for charity.

Jones will be performing from 3pm.

Metallica's Lars Ulrich makes $13.5million on picture

Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich has made $13.5 million (£9.1 million) by selling a Jean-Michel Basquiat painting he owned.

The painting attracted a lot of interest at auction held by Christie's in New York yesterday (November 12).

The lot was one of 75 art pieces that went under the hammer - however, around a third of the items up for sale failed to attract buyers.

The Enemy are make a rare step outside the studio to help launch the 2009 Shockwaves NME Awards.

The Coventry trio have been working on their second album, but will pause from recording sessions to play a one-off set at the awards launch on November 26.

The party will take place in Brixton at the Prince pub, and will mark the beginning of voting ahead of next year's ceremony, which will be held on February 25 at Brixton Academy.

Entrance to the award's launch is strictly by invite, but NME.COM has 20 pairs of awards launch tickets to give away.

Iommi Gets Star Treatment

Tony Iommi is the latest addition to Birmingham’s Walk Of Stars, it has been revealed.

Blabbermouth.net reports that Aston born Iommi will be presented with his Star on Sunday 26 November, and he joins former bandmate Ozzy Osbourne (who was the first to be given a Star in 2006) as one of the early recipients of the accolade.

"It's great - it's really an honour - I'm really proud of it … I was shocked!" Tony said. "It's so nice to have things like that! I've got one out in L.A. but I'm not from L.A. It's so nice being recognized in your hometown."

The Birmingham Walk of Stars honours those people who have made a significant contribution in the categories of music, television, film, radio, theatre, sport, business and literacy.
