Today is a good day. After ongoing request to the IS dept, and failed attempts to rid my machine of an advertising pop up nightmare, I finally was able to personally talk to the IS dept N.I.C. (Nerd In Charge).

This morning my log on was a little different and I had a new anti virus/ spam monitor. I tested the nefarious pop up by surfin the Virgin Blogs. In the past when I tried communicating with all my Virgin VIP friends, every screen change prompted a pop up. It was to say the least, FRUSTRATING!!! Well, NO MORE POP UPS.

Wake me up when September ends! Even with the American holiday of Labor Day right at the beginning of September, this month DRAGS ON. Probobly has something to do with trying to get the kids adjusted to waking up early for school. I hope it goes by fast. My snowmobile needs to be ridden this year. It helps with my winter stress relief.

Here is the main reason for my blog today. Went to a wedding this weekend. It was the first one I've been to in a long time that I wasn't working as a photographer,,,, a good thing too.

First of all, it was an outdoor wedding with no back up plan. Second, the weater did not cooporate. Cloudy, windy and short spats of light rain. Third,,,,,the wedding spot was in a park that you couldnt get a car up into and being the nice guy I am, helped set up and take down the chairs and such. I'll tell you what, sitting at my desk right now,,,,,,,my ass muscles are in NEED of a deep tissue massage.

WIDE SCREEN VS FULL SCREEN

Hey everyone in VR land. This past weekend my youngest son and I watched all three DVD's of The Lord of the Rings series. I hooked up the new surround speakers, made some popcorn and Nick set up the DVD's. We both set into the couch and prepared for the experience (again). The main menu starts with Enya singing Frodo's theme in the background and I hit the play button but to my disappointment, the disclaimer "This movie has been modified to fit your screen" comes on. HOLD THE PHONE! I stop the movie to the dismay of my son and as I search for the WIDE SCREEN version, I tell nick we cant do it like this. After he understood why I stoped the movie, he was in total aggreance with my decision.

A question for all of you.

How many of you prefer full screen over the theatrical format of WIDE screen?

WEIRD AL AT THE STATE FAIR

Hey y-all! I had the chance to take my oldest son to the Minnesota State Fair last night to see Weird Al Yankovic. What a showman. Aside from playing damn near everything in the two hour plus show, he plays little video interview shorts while he and the whole band change costumes to basicly do a video version of a song, LIVE! From the fat suite in "Fat", the parody of Michael Jackson's "Bad", to having Sand People, Stormtroopers and Darth Vader on stage for the "American Pie" parody, "The Saga Begins", theese guys put on a fabulous show. Sure, you are thinking why would I want to see an accordian playing guy with an acrnym of Weird Al?? Expect some current pop favorits arranged as fast polka , some funny rap and some major rockin. All in all, 4 out of 5 stars. Asteroid / Earth collusion

Hey everybody. Remeber in Armageddon when Bruce Willis had to save the earth from the rouge asteroid? The posibility of that really happening is, pardun the pun, astronomical,,,,,,,but never the less,,possible. I found this screen shot on a solar system program called Celestia. Anyway, there are thousands of asteroids in two belts located in our solar system. All of the yellow lines in the photo are the orbits of just the asteroids. They think they could have been two other planets that were pulvorized by an impact with their moon(s). Good thing our moon stays put.

Appalachian Trail

The Appalachian Trail meanders through the mountain range from Georga to Maine for about 2400 miles. Dave, one of my associate's husband just compleated it in just over 5 months, walking about 12 hours a day and lost close to 40 lbs. The trek started at the end of February and finished last week. He visited us today, showing us photos and telling stories of the journey. One thing that surprised him was the kindness of the locals along the trail and their willingness to house and feed the hikers, with no request for payment. He went through two pairs of boots, two back paks, three tents and untold amounts of ramen noodles and koscos. 10 bear and 5 moose crossed his path along the way but the worst carnivore he came upon was the Deer Fly. They were brutal. As a celebration, we are having Subway sandwiches and ice cream cake.
