Well, I haven't been around much as I disappeared on a last minute hol to Cuba with a mate. Had a great time but it's not a country I would ever go back to in a hurry, it's still such a messed up country and yes, I know it's still in the grip of communism but crikey the people (bar some fab bodies we met) were sooooo miserable! Still, the beach was beautiful and the rum was tasty (sadly not so the food!) so it was still a great break on the run up to the Christmas season!

things to look forward to:

Have got Bon Jovi tickets for Twickers on 27th June - yeeeha!!

Missed out on Foo Fighters tickets....boooooo!!! (let's hope the touts have to flog them cheap on fleabay and I might still have a chance...)

Off to see The Verve at the O2 next week - oh yeah!!

And, with a bit of luck and a following wind I shall be buying some Isle of Wight (the Police!! wooohooo!) tickets when they go on sale Thurs night/Fri morning - let's hope the force is with me!!

Music that makes you move?

Ok, was in the gym this morning...well, it was kind of a necessity since I have no hot water and needed a shower so thought I'd do something useful while I was there and exercise a bit...

Anyway, it got me thinking that I haven't updated the music on my mp3 for ages so it's about time something was done, but I don't know what to put on there....this morning was a right old jumble - Arctic Monkeys, Razorlight, Teardrop Explodes, Oasis, Tiny Dancers, Kelly Clarkson, some odd dance tracks by one hit wonders (I think they REALLY need to go!)....

So I thought I'd ask the VIPs what makes ya move? Doesn't have to be gym music, can be whatever gets you up doing the hoovering/housework or gets you through painting the house (please, I don't want to know what music gets you er...you know!)...musical motivational ideas if you would be so kind!

Ok, this is seriously annoying me now. Every Tuesday for the last few weeks the weather has been appalling. How do I notice such trivial things? Probably because I'm trekking across London on tube and foot with a guitar (lessons still, but coming along nicely thanks for asking :) ....London in the rain is no fun anyway but strap a musical instrument to your back and it becomes a whole new minefield! Add that to the fact it's impossible to use an umbrella with a guitar on your back and you can imagine how 'dragged through a wet hedge backwards' I'm feeling today!!

So while I'm here let me, if you will, also grumble about people who don't let you get off the tube before they start shoving their way on - what is with that?! We all have somewhere to be but trust me folks trapping the Ali in the tube past her stop is NOT somewhere you'd want to be!

Right, so...time for coffee and calming down now I've got that off my mind/chest/wet hair...things can surely only get better :)

Look, a perfectly decent Saturday night in ruined by sport. I was looking forward to x factor starting tonight but of course it's been pulled because of some men in short shorts (hmmm....maybe it's not so bad after all!) throwing a funny shaped ball around.... Wish I wasn't on the wagon or I'd be out getting drunk right now...but then again the pubs would be full of people watching rugby...arghhhh!! No win for me....

A quick check of my credit card balance yesterday showed some unusual transactions that certainly weren't mine! Fortunately my card issuer is on the ball and they're sorting out the fraudulent payments and sending me a new card etc but with the postal strike and backlog I could be without my plastic friend for quite some time.....

The last thing I (yes me, the card owner not the 'fraudulent waste of space go earn your own cash you loser fraudster') used my card for? Booking some tickets to a 'Here and Now' concert...oh yes, Paul Young, Bananrama, ABC etc.....never let it be said that Aliflower7 isn't rock'n'roll!

Yahoooooo!! Got my tickets!

After a very stressful 25 minutes this morning I finally managed to get standing tix for the Verve at the O2 in December.....it amazes me how these ticket places have servers that can't cope with the traffic - I mean what are they expecting, just 3 or 4 people to be interested in these big gigs? Even the ticket phoneline charges you who knows how many pence just to be told there's no-one available and you're about to be cut off!

Still...have tickets....very happy!

Grace - "Sink like a stone" release date 3rd September

Grace are a fab five piece hailing from West London and they are touring all over the UK in October and November with the Hoosiers so definitely a gig worth attending - two great bands for the price of one!

Their next track of the 'Detours' album is 'sink like a stone' and it's gorgeous....listen to the song and see the video at.....

Boxer Rebellion gig at Bush Hall, London W12 - Weds 8 August

Doh! Forgot to blog about the gig I went to...shameful...

Anyway, Bush Hall is a wonderfull little venue which I think will become incredibly popular as time goes on. They need to tweak the sound slightly to match it's acoustics (high ceiling, narrow building) but it's very nice! So to the music....

Iain Archer delivered an excellent set and there were clearly many fans in to see him. Unfortunately there was a large quantity of riff-raff who had turned up to support the three guys who did acoustic sets (separately....yes it was tiring....) and they persisted in chattering through most of his set...BOOOO!!!

So to The Boxer Rebellion - if you haven't heard of them check out their myspace page for a listen - they delivered a real blast (blowing away the cobwebs the acoustic boys didn't even tickle) of pounding indie rock rhythms and melodic guitar.

Sadly there are no tour dates scheduled yet, but with a new album release imminent expect these lads to be rocking a venue near you soon!
