The state of the NHS

I had a hospital appointment this morning for 10.30am and arrived early in the hope of being seen earlier. All was good, when I arrived I was immediately whisked away for an xray.

Arrived back with the details and was told to hand them to the nurse who in turn gave them to a student nurse to put on my notes. So I sat down hoping to be seen shortly. Twenty minutes later I was reassured by the nurse that my notes were with the doc so should be going in shortly. Well, time went by and over an hour later, noticing that others who arrived later were being seen I asked when I should expect to be seen. They then started looking for my notes which had now gone missing! After a short while the nurse who I saw initially found my notes so went in to see the consultant.

"You saw Dr so and so last time didn't you." I replied "no, I saw you." "Did you?" he said... then after several more questions it dawned on the consultant that he was looking at the wrong notes! Now, I know I am jinxed because last time I was there they had me sitting in the wrong clinic for an hour!

Anyway, the good news was... things were fine so I don't have to go back... Thank f*ck... I would hate to to find myself wasting another day with my notes being in another hospital!

As an ex NHS consultant (don't worry, I was a computer consultant not a medical or surgical consultant) I am so glad I managed to escape when I could.

The army are trying to cash in on the credit crunch and the loss of jobs trying to encourage people to join the army instead.

Maybe a good idea to pay the bills short term but a major risk of death in the medium term :-)

What do you LOVE and what do you HATE about Absolute Radio?

For me... I love hearing songs that I haven't heard since I was in School. I hate the Absolute Bid... drives me mad. (or madder!)

This Absolute Bid makes me want to scream... it seems that today they want to mention it every few minutes.

After making all us listeners endure this constant hammering of the absolute bid and making stacks of cash I think Clive should put his hand in his pocket and pay for the drinks at our VIP party.

A 16-year-old who attacked eight women in Glasgow in less than two hours is sentenced to four years' detention.

The court heard that the majority of the attacks, which took place on 5 June, were sex assaults and that his victims were all aged between 20 and 35.

In one case, Thomson forced his victim to the ground, put his hand over her mouth and lay on top of her simulating sex as she struggled to breathe.

Now, the reason this appears to me very strange is that all this happened in the space of only 2 hours. Now, you would think that someone like this has a history of violence and/or abusing drugs in the past but no, he has has not offended before this.

When interviewed, he told police he could not remember some of the attacks but he later admitted eight charges, including indecent assault and assault to injury with intent to rape.

I can understand kids hanging around in gangs, toting guns and taking all sorts of heavy drugs... but this? What do you think?

Blizzards are predicted for Scotland and most of the eastern coast of England, where temperatures could drop as low as -5C.

The Met Office is warning of heavy snow showers and biting winds of up to 70mph in exposed coastal and hilly areas.

Sky News weather presenter Lisa Burke said: "For the next couple of days it will remain mild, then there will be this Arctic blast at the weekend.

"It will still be mostly dry and it could be quite bright as well, but the wind chill could bring temperatures down to -5C.

"It should be that lovely winter weather with crisp blue skies but it will be very cold, particularly in the east and Scotland."

The Met Office is forecasting that the chilly snap will be followed by a winter colder than last year's.

However, it says that the season will still be mild, and that temperatures are likely to be above average over much of Europe.

Is it only me..... ?

What has happened to "Customer Service" especially with larger companies?

Having had a frustrating few days playing email ping pong with Hilton Hotels I have noticed that customer service seems to have all but disappeared since the rise of Call Centres handling customer queries. it seems to be a case of you call with a problem, they note the problem but nothing happens. No one is able to make a decision anymore. It always ends up with you having to keep calling until they are so fed up with your voice they finally do something which could and should have been done very easily after your first call.

Just thought I would pass on something for those who have trouble listening to AR through their own player.

It was forever cutting out on me so have now started listening through Itunes and haven't had any problems since.
