Absolute Beginners

Hello, my friends,

 Popped in to catch up on the changes - to be honest, I'm thinking "meet the new boss, same as the old boss", but there seems to be a lot of positive buzz on site... let's see how it goes, eh? The name change could have been worse ('Virgin' is a daft name for a station, anyway, it's just that we're familiar with it...), although it's getting a mixed reaction.  Absolute? Sure. Why not?

The added diversity of tracks sounds good - playing just the megahits of a band does their body of work a disservice, and this is supposed to be a station/site for music lovers... some album tracks would be great, too.  The times I've thought "that band sounds interesting, but I've only ever heard the one single" - I don't buy albums on the strength of one single anymore, too many let-downs... so, the broader policy will better inform listeners, and could benefit sales of the artist, which has got to be good, right?

The down side, from my personal POV, is that I'm more a Geoff listener than anything else, and his show's moving... disaster!  Not only does it ruin my nightly routine (Asperger's people DO like their routines), but Geoff is definitely better post-watershed, he pretty much lets it all hang out... to move him is to put a muffler on him, and that's just a waste.  But then, most of us will be cheering some changes & booing others, I doubt we'll all agree!

Right, sorry, didn't mean to go into one... just wondering 'where now, what next', but the short answer, of course, is 'stick around & find out', so I'll be watching this space.
