why not ban petrol/diesel cars inside the limits of every town and city across the country?

Exceptions – Emergency Vehicles

I envisage a huge car “park and ride” system outside the zone- so drivers can park their cars for long periods, until they need it, but they can :
Hire an electric buggy – like a golf buggy
Get a tram – a new network of trams could be built
Get the tube in London
Get a train
Get a liquid gas powered or biofuel bus, only licensed buses can use combustion engines in the zone. – Apart from emergency vehicles already mentioned.
Hire a bike.
Hire a rickshaw
Hire an electric taxi.

There must be a commitment that the electric used is generated by renewables.

This will reduce car usage to intercity travel, or country side roads. People in villages will be unaffected.

To recap – every town to have a ban on cars – urban residents would be unable to park their car outside their house even.

Who invented the city? Wasn’t it the Italians with their walled city states – London would be a much nicer place. A single car lane would be wide enough for two electric buggy lanes.

Reduce road deaths, reduce congestion, reduce pollution, its bike friendly and its very sustainable.

*Phew* That’s a weight off.

Maybe it will make people consider moving out of the city zones because they love there cars so much - fine. Leave the cities to those who don’t even own a car. No loss.
What would that do? Reduce over crowding and bring house/apartment prices down?
London already has the M25, so we should use that as the limit of the car free zone – that’s right, not just central London – the whole bloody lot. No-one within that area would be allowed to park outside their house.

Last year l purchased two tickets for Genesis at Twickenham stadium in London on Sunday 8th July.

My mate has just anounced to me he cant afford it.

I paid 60 quid a ticket, anyway, now have a spare, anyone interested, l will accept offers, not gonna get my full money back now, but rather you guys than a tout.

I was thinking about a discussion I had with a friend the other day, where I ended up being more annoyed about something than I should have ... Anyway, while I was thinking "was I just standing up for myself albeit a little too adamantly, was it just because I had a really bad day ..." one of my chat clients popped up. Anyway, I glanced at it and realised why I always set it to invisible. Nigh on everyone on it tells me exactly what they think I want to hear, never disagrees with me and takes everything I say as fact.
Now, it's nice to have friendships that are generally harmonious, but I must say I value the people who'll call me on my behaviour and make me substantiate my statements over the ones that'll back me up without a thought. If I announce my friend's being a pain in the arse, I want people to ask why and make up their own minds whether he/she out of order, before dismissing them as a twat and telling me I deserve better. Generally, I quite like being asked to back up what I say, it makes me think and it makes me see things I might otherwise have missed.
Thinking about this argument though, I realised I'm not really used to it, so while I value the friends that'll pull me up on something more than those who won't, I often give them a right mouthful when they do

It's a tricky issue, isn't it - on the one hand it's good to be able to take criticism, but on the other hand it's really difficult not to be automatially defensive when you're criticised or even sometimes when someone disagrees with you if you're not really used to it .

So, how about you guys - do you prefer people to agree with you or challenge you, why is it important to you, and do you find although you've chosen to value one way of relating above the other you don't always take it in the good temper you'd like to think you do?

I'm sure I'm not the only one finding this whole human interaction thing's a learning curve sometimes

god, it's been so long, i'd forgotten how it felt.

i wasn't sure if i was ever gonna do it again at my age, to be honest.

still, i just took my clothes off and took the plunge, so to speak.

it's still just as wet and messy as i remember it though.

smells a bit funny too.

and i had to wipe the creamy stuff off my hands before i typed this of course.

but now that i've started doing it again i may feel the urge all the time!

anyway, must go and rinse off all the mess now.

Thanks for the new design, in the main it's cool. BUT, a couple of issues. Firstly depending on screen resolution and text sixe thereare a few things not working. Firstly if l look at my profile;

my Name: = Male

Country: = 47 years old

Last seen: = 1,205

Basically things dont line up. the other issue is we are no longer seening pindex on our profile, which is cool, but it is still in the ranking table??

Thanks guys don't like to whinge, but l am sure you would rather know than not.

Cars, GET RID OF THEM.

No one in a town or a city needs one. there are too many on the roads, clogging up our towns, poluting the world, our children don't get any exersise because they are driven everywhere. Its only lazy people who need a car....

Walk, cycle, or if really needed use public transport.
