work, work, work...

I've been working loads again recently, and today i managed to run a cage into the back of my ankle, which was fairly painful.. soon it stopped and now the front bit of my foot hurts, but oh well.. ignore-it-and-it'll-go-away usually works for me, haha..

tomorrow i have to start at 6am to do the papers!!!!! 6am is too early for me.. and then 8am on sunday.. luckily I have monday off, but then I'm working the next 7 days in a row =( buuut, after those 7 days I'm going to see Ghosts again at the carling academy islington, yay!! and I just found out the hoosiers are supporting, should be awesome!!

How are you all? not working as much as I seem to be I hope!

Ghosts at Virgin Megastore!!

Just got back from seeing Ghosts in london, they were fantastic!! They only played 5 songs, but they were still brilliant, and I was right at the front!!.. and we got there really early, so we heard/saw their soundcheck, and Simon sang a song from jungle book!! hahah.. aaaaand... I got to meet them and they signed my CD!!! they've joined muse and the static age as my favourite band, I'd love to see them play a longer set sometime, brilliant band. You all need to go out and buy the album, it's fantastic, probably my favourite of this year.

I'm going to see ghosts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

my bf got tickets for us to see them at virgin megastore on wednesday, they're doing a show + signing so might get to meet them too!!!!! i'm so excited haha.. i got the album (its out today people!) and it's awesome, you should all go and buy it if you like stay the night and the world is outside.. or even if you don't, just cuz they're awesome. eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!

There is an art, it says, or rather, a knack to flying.
    The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss.
    Pick a nice day, it suggests, and try it.
    The first part is easy.
    All it requires is simply the ability to throw yourself forward with all your weight, and willingness not to mind that it's going to hurt.
    That is, it's going to hurt if you fail to miss the ground.
    Most people fail to miss the ground, and if they are really trying properly, the likelihood is that they will fail to miss it fairly hard.
    Clearly, it is this second part, the missing, which presents the difficulties.
    One problem is that you have to miss the ground accidentally. It's no good deliberately intending to miss the ground because you won't. You have to have your attention suddenly distracted by something else when you're halfway there, so that you are no longer thinking about falling, or about the ground, or about how much it's going to hurt if you fail to miss it.
    It is notoriously difficult to prise your attention away from these three things during the split second you have at your disposal. Hence most people's failure, and their eventual disillusionment with this exhilarating and spectacular sport.
If, however, you are lucky enough to have your attention momentarily distracted at the crucial moment by, say, a gorgeous pair of legs (tentacles, pseudopodia, according to phyllum and/or personal inclination) or a bomb going off in your vicinity, or by suddenly spotting an extremely rare species of beetle crawling along a nearby twig, then in your astonishment you will miss the ground completely and remain bobbing just a few inches above it in what might seem to be a slightly foolish manner.
    This is a moment for superb and delicate concentration.
    Bob and float, float and bob.
    Ignore all considerations of your own weight and simply let yourself waft higher.
    Do not listen to what anybody says to you at this point because they are unlikely to say anything helpful.
    They are most likely to say something along the lines of, 'Good God, you can't possibly be flying!'
    It is vitally important not to believe them or they will suddenly be right.
    Waft higher and higher.
    Try a few swoops, gentle ones at first, then drift above the treetops breathing regularly.
    DO NOT WAVE AT ANYBODY.
    When you have done this a few times you will find the moment of distraction rapidly becomes easier and easier to achieve.
    You will then learn all sorts of things about how to control your flight, your speed, your manoeuvrability, and the trick usually lies in not thinking too hard about whatever you want to do, but just allowing it to happen as if it was going to anyway.
    You will also learn about how to land properly, which is something you will almost certainly cock up, and cock up badly, on your first attempt.
There are private flying clubs you can join which help you achieve the all-important moment of distraction. They hire people with surprising bodies or opinions to leap out from behind bushes and exhibit and/or explain them at the critical moments. Few genuine hitch-hikers will be able to afford to join these clubs, but some may be able to get temporary employment at them.

sorry I haven't been here so much.. i've been working.. around twice my normal hours, almost full time.. can't wait for my next payslip, heheh..

just tested out the MMS photo thingy, I don't know if it's worked yet but my phone reckons it's definitely sent the message.. so we shall see if it appears..

how is everyone? got any plans for the weekend? I'm going shopping tomorrow, then spending 6 hours counting things on sunday (aka helping with stock take, lucky me..........)

I think I need an early night.. I was up at 5 this morning, because I started work at 6!!!!!! had to put all the supplements in the newspapers.. and then it was busy and I was stuck on the cigarette kiosk, and the lottery till froze up so I had a queue of people while it rebooted, silly machine...

oh well, day off tomorrow (despite my manager's best efforts to give me some more overtime), I'm going to thorpe park with my boyfriend.. not seen him for 2 weeks since I finished uni before him, so that'll be good.. unfortunately another early start, I'm being picked up at 8 by my friend who works there! oh well, lie in monday.. working all week though, I can't decide which I hate more.. early starts or doing the late shift, haha.. all my shifts next week don't start until like 1 or something, so yay lie in.. but it means i'm working til 6 or 7 or 8 most days... grr.. oh well, least i got the overtime, need the money ahaha..

Leaving Work Early

Three women all worked in the same office with the same female boss.

Each day, they noticed the boss left work early. One day, the women
decided that, when the boss left, they would leave right behind her.

who stole the good weather?? I want my sunshine back!! I think that's it for the summer here, a good few weeks, but we're back to cold and grey now..

oh well, makes it not so bad that i've got a load of overtime for work, it's only a few hours each day but meh, none of my friends are back from uni yet and I get bored at home, may as well earn some money I guess.. tomorrow off but i'm then working thursday, friday, saturday, sunday, monday..

hey everyone, happy sunday! how are you? I'm enjoying being at home, bit boring though!! don't start work til tomorrow, nice to have a free weekend!

just given my debit card a bit of a bashing, I've been looking for an external harddrive to backup all my photos and music, and I've eventually got one on ebuyer, it's 120gb and was under £50 thanks to a 'sign up to google checkout and save £10'.. thought I may as well, even if I don't use google checkout again.. (they're basically trying to rival paypal, which i already have).. so yeah, good deal there methinks, could have got loads more storage but I really needed one that doesn't require power from the mains, I'm using all the sockets under my desk as it is!! (& this drive is smaller.. not gonna use up 120gb for a while anyways..) (sorry if that was a lot of technical jargon to some of you!!)

hope you're all enjoying your weekends, people got days off tomorrow? I'm working, but ah well, stops me from being too bored!!

I got the gary jules cd I ordered, really impressed with the site only took about a week to get here!! It's not as good as trading snakeoil for wolftickets, but it's still good..

yaaaaay! just finished my last shift at morrisons!! (for now anyway, I'm transferring stores, but the other is loooads better), I'm leaving bradford on friday to go home for summer, I'll have about 4 1/2 months at home, yay!!

I've just got (read: copied) the fray's album, which is absolutely amazing and I should have bought sooner.. if you like how to save a life (or aren't completely sick of it, thank you virgin) then buy it!

Just discovered Gary Jules has a new album, which I'm having to import because only one american website has it at the moment, it's a pretty damn good site though, cdbaby.com, they'll send cds without the jewel cases to save you money if you want (i didn't do that), and altogether including postage I've paid just over £10 for it, could have got it for about £8 though! bloody brilliant I say.

Whatever did happen to Gary Jules over here anyway? I saw Trading Snakeoil for Wolftickets in HMV for £2 t'other day =( if it's still there and you like him, buy iiiit! mad world turned into a bit of a one hit wonder, shame really, there are some fantastic tracks on that album..

(pun toally intended, sorry!)hellooo.. I have dug myself out of the mountain of work, and I'm now neeearly free for summer!! go back home a week today, yay! only in one day next week, for a studio day which sounds exciting - blue peter meets tomorrows world, apparently.. I'm going to be directing a bit about making origami frogs, if my script gets picked.. hehe.. everyone has to write a script, and then our lecturer picks 5 or 6 to be made on the day.. scary scary, but exciting too! just had my last (read: only) exam, got 18 out of 25 which is pretty good for the poor amount of revision I did, and the badly worded questions.. yay for multiple choice! (hah).. I got brokeback mountain on dvd the other day, haven't seen it before so I'll have to watch that sometime, my boyfriend doesn't want to watch it with me though, hahahaha... how is everyone? enjoying the sunshine? right, off to do my laundry now...
