I'm going to have a GREAT weekend. Took the day off and will be going to the beach later. Tomorrow friends are throwing me a little party, and Sunday will be going to the Huntington Library/Museum/Gardens in Pasadena (L.A. area). Anyone want to come over for a party tonight?

My 90 y.o. father passed away on 9 May, and my mom just sent me a check for $1,500 that he'd socked away to use on amateur radio equipment. Other than tithing it, I'm inclined to put it my savings account. What would YOU do with it?

I'm heading off to Saturday lab at school in about an hour - we're going to tissue culture African Violets. Can't wait for tomorrow - my one day of the week to sleep in! And this week at work was one hell of a week with the Dragon Lady boss from L.A. in town. Have a beer (Newcastle) and pizza waiting for tonight to help me recover.

It's been a while, hasn't it? Thanks to all who have inquired. School started again on 29 January, so I've been busy with that. Fell way behind on everything after my cat (in the avatar) passed away, but I'm doing better and may even adopt another this 3-day weekend. Going to the shelter tomorrow to have a look at what they they.

S.D. Chargers or NE Patriots? Packers or Giants? I'm rooting for the Packers because of my friend who plays for them - KGB #94. It would be nice if the Chargers win (as I live in the area), but there's very small chance they can beat the Patriots.

Well, I hate to be a major downer to the start of everyone's day, I need my VIP friends right now. I just returned from the emergency vet clinic where I had to make the heart breaking decision to put my little Jack to sleep. He went into heart failure tonight, and at the most even with medication, he'd be around for only another year. I had to show the ultimate act of love and release him. It was very quick (I was holding him), and immediately I could feel his spirit thanking me.

I know that any of you who have lost a human loved one to heart problems may feel this is trival, but he was my baby and, well, I think I'll finish off a bottle of wine right now.

Taking my new car out to the country tomorrow to see how it handles the curvy roads. I've got my friend from Norfolk (who lives here) coming and have room for 3 more. You need to bring your fav cd with you.

Have to watch on the speed; it's (2002 Accord) got a lot of power compared to the 15 y.o. Escort I just traded in. It's so fun!!

Left for work late this morning; I thought, ok, this is an excuse to punch it in the new car and see how it does. I'm a conservative driver in regards to speed in order to save money and help the environment. Today I sped (keeping an eye in the rear view mirror for highway patrol), and it went 80 with no effort at all! Suddenly, I'm going 90 -- YIKES -- slow down, Gail! It's got a lot of power, and I could easily get myself in trouble, but it has cruise control, so I'll keep my speed down when on the freeway after this. Bad girl, but I had fun!

VR is my fav, but when I can't listen, the San Diego station I listen to is the next best. I was a seat filler d.j. once, and I just called the morning team to wish them a Merry Christmas. In the course of our short conversation I accidentally hung up on them! I was horrified and rang them back very quickly. Got right back on the air, but good grief - that was embarrassing!
