Thank you all so much for all your kindness! I hope you all have a wonderful evening and a smashing Friday! Love you all xxxxx
(192 views)Good Morning everyone! Hope your hump day is going wonderfully. I was talking with my husband last night on how he believes that singers such as Duffy and Adele are just jumping at the opportunity to take Amy Winehouse's musical ideas to emulate and distribute music branded as their own when she takes her downtime from the spotlight. In my opinion, the very first time I heard Adele or Duffy on the telly and watched their videos, the first thought that popped into my head was how the seemed to be copying Ms Winehouse's music style coupled with a generic image mixed with other tidbits of her personality. It looks as though they are capitalising on her music and persona, pumping out their singles to whomever will play it when Amy is busy with other things. I'm curious to know what everyone thinks on this topic.... Are singers like Adele and Duffy just copycat wannabes trying to emulate Amy Winehouse and profit off of her success?

(104 views)I work for a small office owned by a husband and wife, selling software and providing training and support for the people who use it. When I first came here, I loved it. It was like a dream come true - excellent pay, a close-knit and seemingly kind staff, and a well decorated environment.
It has since been three months since I came here. It has transformed from a perfect job to a hellpit. I have been reprimanded for leaving on time (I must wait an hour after the official leaving time to actually go home), forced to drive into different states for weeks at a time in my own vehicle paying for my own gasoline, and had my salaried pay "docked" for taking leave for a day due to a hospital stay the previous night. I have had a constant, unmanageable supply of work thrown on top of me, and I am not appreciated any more than anyone else when I come in 4 hours early in the wee hours of the morning to finish all the work they expect me to do. I was even specifically told not to think I'm earning "points" for working 12-14 hours each day (whilst attending physical therapy and doctor visits for a serious car accident I was involved in).
But what has just happened is what bothered me most of all. His secretary just walked back here, dropped a "smoking cessation" pamphlet on my desk and told me to read it because my boss is requiring I participate.
I'm a smoker. I know it is not the personal choice of many, and that is a wise decision. But it is still a personal choice. I have not had the motivation to quit since I started and I honestly do not see anything short of me having a child that would compel me to quit. When I do, I will do it on my own accord.
Needless to say, I feel a bit angry and disrespected by this pamphlet and whatever program or rule he is planning to take part in.
Perhaps it is time to start looking for a different place once again.
