Here I come!!!

Now as anyone who's wide awake at 3am will tell you, there's something about being up at that time that makes you feel like you're a member of a special kind of club.

Whether you're working the nightshift or feeding the baby there's a certain special feeling to knowing you're awake while it seems the rest of the world is sleeping....

I remember doing the breakfast show on local radio before I came to Absolute Radio and there'd always be an old fella walking his dog en route to the station around 5.30am, dragging this sorry looking hound behind him who clearly objected to being up and out at such a hideously early hour....

I'd always stop and say 'mornin' to that old fella who'd smile and nod in return because of that feeling, that feeling that no one else was up and we were the only ones wide awake. Me, the old fella, and the dog, members of a secret society....

So I'm thinking of starting a wide awake club - a what on earth are you doing up at this hour club. And everyone is welcome - from postal workers to new parents, if you're wide awake at the ungodly hours of 4 to 6 am then I'd love to hear from you!

Right, time for my afternoon nap. I know I've not started the early breakfast show yet but I'm just getting some practice in....

Sarah xx

Blur, Oasis, Pulp, Shed Seven, Sleeper, I could go on and on and on....

See the 90's was a glorious decade for me, when I think back I think back to carefree college days dancing down the student union on pound a pint nights, watching Pulp at Wembley and generally having the time of my life.

All of which is why I'm absolutely delighted to be hosting Absolute 90's at the moment, saturday afternoons 1 - 3pm.

I played Cast last weekend 'walk away' and was instantly taken back to the night we crashed out of euro 96. I can still remember the silence and the stillness as that heartbreaking song played over the montage of Gareth Southgate and co as none of us could quite believe what had happened to us - all over again.

I played Ugly Kid Joe from 1992 remembering the year Waynes World changed our vocabulary to include words like 'schwing!' and the year Madonnas Sex book came out wrapped in foil so none of us could take a sneaky peak in Smiths.

There'll be more this weekend and I'd love you to be a part of it. What song takes you right back to a specific moment in time in the 90's? What song reminds you most of your wedge hair cut or your curtains or the time the padding on your wonderbra made a run for it on the dancefloor....

Let me know and lets relive it all over again this weekend.

So I'm covering for Tim Lichfield this week, he's on holiday having a well earned rest so I'm living the life of a long distance truck driver. Up all night and asleep for most of the day. Reminds me of my student days...

Do love overnights though, think it comes from watching 'Midnight Caller' as a kid. Okay I'm not solving crimes and murders but theres something so rewarding about getting texts in the wee small hours, especially from fellow night workers. Its great to hear the tunes help those night shifts shift that bit quicker.

Will need all the sleep I can get to prepare for the onslaught of the V festival next week! All the festivals are fantastic fun but V's the special one for me, first festival I ever went to and I'll never forget the butterflies in my stomach as I crossed that field in Chelmsford for the very first time, light headed with excitement and a couple of cans of white lightening...

We'll be bringing you all the best bits live across the weekend as they happen though, so if portaloos and big queues aren't your thing (and lets face it whose are they!?) you can still enjoy the best in live music from a truly great line up of acts.

Can't wait!

Well it took me long enough to sign up as a Virgin Radio VIP but I'm on board now! So in an effort to make my page a bit more interesting AND to gain more kudos (currently an unsigned hopeful) I thought it was about time I blogged.

I've been taking care of the 80's hour for Russ this week he's off and I'm trying to subtly suggest he's somewhere slightly deviant with each passing day. Today I went for 'I believe he's at a naturists resort in Dorset' prompting a few texts to comment 'I thought you said he was in Magalluf???' Any suggestions for tommorrows mention very welcome.

I took the strangest phone call today, a lady saying she'd found Roger Daltreys passport but didn't want to send it on to him incase it got lost in the post. Clearly the obvious thing to do is call Virgin Radio so I followed it with the obvious and passed the message on to Brian from the breakfast show.

Poor Roger. I know how he feels though, I came home after the show yesterday to find my dog Buckley had taken part in a dirty protest. He's not used to being left at that time of a morn and in amongst the turmoil of the living room - I found my sorry looking half chewed passport. Entirely ruined.

I won't be going anywhere for a while....
