Our records show that you have been an active VIP on absoluteradio.co.uk during the last 6 months and so we thought it important we let you know that sadly we have taken the difficult decision to close the Community section of the website, including VIP blogs and profiles. When we opened its doors in 2007, our VIP community was a first for any UK radio station and launched at a time when 'social networking' was just about to hit the mainstream. Twitter had just started out and it was the beginning of the rise and rise of Facebook, which by 2008, had overtaken MySpace as the top social networking site. It was also the year that Apple launched the iPhone, changing the way we think about the possibilities of the mobile phone. Technology and social networks have revolutionised the way we communicate with our friends in recent years and now we have taken the decision to move the conversation from our own Community section to where more of our audience already spend the bulk of their time online. We intend to close the Community section on 21 February 2011. Much of the content will be removed from the servers, so if you'd like to back up your VIP blogs or private messages, now is the time to do it. Don't forget, you'll still be an Absolute Radio VIP member and you'll still be able to post in forums, comment on podcasts and videos, as well as receiving our weekly VIP Newsletter.
