Gareth Evans
The Hometime Show's chief of phonecalls, commander of Twitter and superintendent of Facebook.
Gareth grew up in a little town on the English/North Wales border which, he says, explains his lack of Welsh accent (but he’s still very proud to be a Welshman).
Growing up, the only thing he can remember being scared of as a kid was dogs, ever since one bit him and another chased him down a hill. His parents thought they’d cure this by buying Gaz a puppy, much to his shock. But it worked! She was called Bonnie, after the Blue Peter dog.
Gaz has never been very good at committing to hobbies, he blames this on a low attention span and as a consequence has collection of half-finished sticker albums. But in spite of this, at the age of 15, he began obsessively collecting Oasis singles and recording the TV every time one of their videos came on.
Gareth has always loved radio and had his first work experience when he was 16 at his local station, Marcher Sound in Wrexham.
He had his own show at his student radio station but tells us it’s too cringe-worthy to listen back to the tapes, he was also Head of News and was nominated for a Student Radio Award, but alas, didn’t win. He did however win a Blue Peter badge when he was a kid for guessing how many animals presenter Simon Groom had on his farm.
Alongside the hard work he does on Geoff Lloyd’s Hometime Show, our customer services man plays bass in a band
