Absolute Radio is collaborating with the Victoria and Albert Museum in London to produce BOWIE - the definitive Bowie story with the stunning David Bowie is V&A exhibition at its heart.

BOWIE is the story from his early life in post war Brixton right through to his new album The Next Day spread across 3 programmes. The story is presented by Tim Minchin and is told by those who know David best, the friends and musicians who have been part of Bowie's life over six decades; using the memorabilia, lyrics, photos and clothes which are on display at the David Bowie is exhibition at the V&A.

As well as looking at Bowie's music the programmes will also explore David's acting career, his underrated role as a producer and writer for the likes of Iggy Pop and Ian Hunter, plus we'll hear about his fascination with technology and the internet.

Contributors to the series include Bowie's childhood friend and artist George Underwood, who reveals how an argument over a girl resulted in David's unique eye colouration, and touring guitarist John' Hutch' Hutchinson recounts the moment David - to the shock of the band and fans alike - ended The Spiders of Mars on stage in Hammersmith in 1973. We hear from Suzi Ronson, wife of the late, great Mick Ronson and Carlos Alomar the guitarist who has played on more Bowie records than any other musician. Plus contemporary artists like Bastille, Hurts and Miles Kane, amongst others, reveal the influence Bowie has on them in the 21st century. Other contributors include Ronnie Wood, Peter Frampton, Glenn Hughes, Nick Rhodes and Thomas Dolby.
