The new Renault Trafic
Renault and its best selling van, Trafic, are riding high following some impressive Trophy wins.
Trafic scooped the prestigious Best Medium Van award at this year’s Fleet World Honours ceremony. Commenting on Renault’s win, Fleet World’s Van Editor, John Kendall, said “The Renault Trafic (and its sister products) still has a great deal to offer.
“Inside there is plenty of storage space in the cab and the driving position is still one of the most comfortable. Even with a bulkhead fitted, taller drivers will find plenty of legroom. It remains a good van to drive with quiet engines and a fine balance of ride and handling either empty, or fully loaded.”
In addition to picking up the latest fleet industry award for the popular Trafic, the Renault brand also walked away with the coveted Safety award. Fleet World’s editor, Ken Rogers, had this to say on Renault’s safety accomplishments: Renault is the only vehicle manufacturer to have secured Euro NCAP’s top, five-star rating no less than eleven times. In fact it was Renault’s New Mégane that recently achieved that accolade with a score of 37 points out of 37 – the highest score ever achieved.”
Trafic also won the 2009 British Insurance Vehicle Security award. This prestigious award is hosted by Thatcham, the Motor Insurance Repair Research Centre and is supported by the Home Office, the AA, and the Department for Transport. The award was established in 2004 and this is the first year in which Vans were eligible – making Trafic’s inaugural win even more impressive.
The awards are based on the New Vehicle Security Ratings scheme (NVSR), and thanks to its wide range of standard fit security features Trafic achieved a maximum five stars in the ‘Theft Of’ section and four in the ‘Theft From’ section.
Renault’s Trafic comes equipped with an impressive array of security features including anti-drill door locks and barrels, Thatcham category 1 alarm and immobiliser system, remote central locking with deadlocking, full steel bulkheads and R.A.I.D. (Renault Anti Intruder Device), which automatically locks all the vehicles doors once travelling above 5 mph. A three-button key with selective door opening is also available as an option, to combat opportunistic thieves while the vehicle is being unloaded
