Adrian Hieatt: Backstage with Noel Fielding. Everyone has been very impressed with your musical styling tonight. You’re a rockstar now!

Noel Fielding: It was fun. We never done the Boosh band live. We needed a couple of week’s rehearsal. We were pleased how it went. We were very scared. I kept forgetting how to breathe and sing at the same time. I think in the end we got there.

A: Beginning of something? Albums? Festivals?

N: We’ve got an album to do anyway and we want to do a musical extravaganza.

A: Boosh movie

N: Yeah doing that in the next year, that will be fun. I’m not sure what form it’s going to take yet. We’ve got quite a lot of ideas, we need to pick one and go with it. We’ve got to many ideas.

A: Obviously your pal Russell couldn’t be here yet because he’s a big star now.

N: He’s doing some stuff in LA which is great. I spoke to him the other day and he is having a really nice time. He’s in a couple of films. I think he will take America by storm because he’s just charisma personified. I love Russell.

A: You off to the aftershow now?

N: Yeah in a minute. Fucking get my mum and dad together, and all my friends.

A: I was reading an article and you were saying the influence your mum and dad had on your comedy.

N: It was the 70’s they had a lot of crazy parties. I was a child hanging around. I guess that affects you in some way. Their cool parents though, they’re here tonight. They come to everything, they’re wicked.

A: Were you aware of all that stuff at the time?

N: Course not. I guess unconsciously and subliminally I met a lot of freaks at parties but it was fun. It was a fun childhood.

A: So the Teenage Cancer Trust, something you’d like to keep going for many years to come?

N: I would love to do it again. It is my favourite charity. I think it’s a really cool charity. I’d do whatever, backstage, behind the scenes stuff, just a slot if they wanted me to. I’m going to stick with this one for good. It’s quite nice to stick with some people, meet them and work with them, and keep those relationships going, rather then doing lots of different charities and spreading yourself thinly. It would be nice to stay with them.

A: It’s great to have Johnny Borrell here as well. I was talking to him and he said that he takes some inspiration form you but not all of it.

N: All of it (laughs) He’s a sweetie. He came and did it yeah. I just phoned him and said will you do a song or a couple and he was like yeah course. They’re good boys, the Razorlight boys, and Andy he’s a good friend of mine. They’re nice actually. His press image is very different to what he’s actually like. He’s a nice boy.

A: And Courtney Love was here as well which is nice. I didn’t even realise you two were good friends.

N: Really good friends. She just flew in tonight actually. Yeah, it’s really nice to see her, she looks really good. Really thin, really stylish. Courtney’s lovely, crazy and lovely. I love her.
