This jazz club has been promoting music on the same premises all the way back to 1942. They support many genres, bands such as The Rolling Stones, The Who, Muse and The Pogues have all played here. edit
I used to go here on Saturday mornings in the 70s when it was a soul club. It was brilliant. The World is a Ghetto by George Benson is the song that sticks in my mind about this place I rember the DJ was a much older man. After the Club we all use to go round to Contempo Records to buy the lastest songs we had just heard. Great memories.
Metallica played a secret gig at the 100 club to "break in" Jason Newsted when he joined the band as bass player after the tragic death of Cliff Burton in 1986.
A world-famous jazz club going back years and years, the Rolling Stones also played there, it later became infamous as the site of the two-day Punk Festival on 20-21 September 1976, with acts like The Clash, The Sex Pistols and The Buzzcocks. Siouxsie and the Banshees formed esepecially for the gig and played just one song - a 20-minute recital of the Lord's Prayer.
