This is the building that was bought by The Beatles in 1967 to sell psychedelic clothes. It was called the Apple Boutique and when first opened, it had a huge psychedelic mural painted on the side wall, but the council ordered for it to be painted over so it was then painted white with 'apple' printed simply in black paint. Many were annoyed that this beautiful mural was painted over. Once, Paul Mccartney wrote 'Hey Jude' with white paint on the window to promote The Beatles' new single. It failed to be successful and eventually all the clothes were given away in 1968 to anyone who queued up outside. "Only one dress per customer!" the sales assistants said!

The Apple Boutique was here, and was the fashion venture of the Beatles' company, Apple Corps. It was pretty badly run, and after just seven months, it closed down.
