Made famous by the Beatles song of the same name, John Lennon and Paul McCartney would meet at Penny Lane junction to catch a bus into the centre of the city. It is a mecca for many Beatles fans. edit

Famous from the song... but none of the places mentioned in the song exist in the street itself. You will find a barber close to it: Penny Lane is also the name of the area around its junction with Smithdown Road.
