Brook Street is on the Grosvenor Estate in the exclusive district of Mayfair. It consists of typical London terraced house, mostly built to individual designs. Jimi Hendrix is a former resident. edit
I've been on a tour of this flat, Handle House Museum do tours every so often so I was lucky to get on it. It was very interesting and the historian who showed us round certainly knew his stuff. Handle House could make this better and more profitable if they were to re-create the flat just how Jimi had it.
This was also the home that Mama Cass Elliott died in.
Hendrix was born in Seattle, but at the peak of his creative years he was based in London His flat in Brook Street was on the doorstep not only of the world-famous sixties scene (eg Carnaby Street) but also of legendary music venues like The Marquee, The Speakeasy and the Saville, where Jimi hung out. As an extra attraction for a pilgrimage he current Marquee is currently running a six-month Hendrix exhibition with loads of unique Hendrix memorabilia. His flat at No 23 (now incorporated into the Handel House Museum) has an English Heritage blue plaque to commemorate Jimi's life there.
