This road is where the MOD father, Paul Wheller, grew up. Stanley Road was also the title for his 1995 album, which was voted 46th greatest album of all time by Q magazine readers. edit
love to go to see where it all started.....
Stanley Road isnt what it used to be. It is now lined with office blocks and car parks where the town centre is spreading out.
Paul Weller was a frequent attendee at Pool in the Park in Woking Park nearly every Saturday morning, i used to go swimming with him and his son and daugther and regret saying this but i actually didn't know who he was then!
At the end of Stanley Road turn right and you have the nightclub Remix with new and up and coming bands playing underground in the cellar check it out has been hosting venues for bands for over fifthteen years also has great raw feel also ideal great venue for fan club and hosting JAM / Paul Wheller night in the town that rocks......
Woking, home of the MOD father Paul Wheller and other members of the Jam - this is where they started and where a number of video were filmed in the area including Horsell Common. Woking is also home to Stanley Road of course!
