Long Live King Elvis uh uh
i have been there - it really is like a religious experience! Whenever i hear "walking in memphis" it reminds me of my visit - even the line about "rev green be glad to see you" because i did actually visit the al green church and meet the great man himself! it is the ultimate rock pilgrimage!
There is only 1 Elvis even though others might bear his name.
Graceland is not a museum, it is a shrine. It is THE place to appreciate how fantastic Elvis was, as a man and a showman. After a visit you will appreciate how patriotic and loyal he was and how he was abused by his enterague into an obese drug addicted shadow of probably the greatest showman America will ever produce. His grave and garden of remberance are places to cry and reflect on a life needlessly ruined. Before my visit I could take or leave Elvis. Now I stand in awe of an icon likley never to be bettered.
with BB King's club, the whole of Beale St. and Graceland all in such close proximity to each other, Memphis is a gem to visit and absolutely full to the brim with soul. Best to visit before the summer sets in though - on an average summer day the temp is often 100F by noon!
Next to Ace and Clutch, Elvis is without doubt the greatest name for a boy, and believe me, if I'd had my way, our daughter would have been named after the King. I always wanted to visit Tennessee until Cher covered ‘Walking in Memphis' in 1995, now I'm terrified I'll hear it if I go there
The King of Rock and Roll, need i say more?
