Festival information

Latitude Festival returned for a 6th year at Henham Park, Southwold, Sunrise Coast, Suffolk in 2011. Set in the beautiful countryside of Suffolk's Sunrise Coast, Latitude continues to lead the way as a bold and pioneering festival featuring the very best from the worlds of music, theatre, comedy, literature, film, poetry, dance, art, fashion and cabaret and bringing them together for one glorious weekend.

A place to explore, discover and enjoy; Latitude encourages you to indulge yourself and open your mind to a world of wonders, thrills and delights which awaits your arrival. Latitude is unrivalled in the breadth and quality of its programme.

Line-up

Music

Spread over four bespoke arenas dedicated to music, Latitude offers an incredible array of musical talent, hand-picked and carefully selected to create the perfect soundtrack to the perfect weekend. Whether it's the hottest new band or the once in a life-time chance to see a legend perform; if it's rock or pop, folk or blues, electro or dance, Latitude's music arenas have it all.

2011 will see the festival headlined by The National, Paolo Nutini, Suede on the Obelisk Arena and Bombay Bicycle Club, Foals and Eels in the Word Arena.

The Obelisk Arena

Friday will see The National headline, along with Paloma Faith, Bright Eyes and KT Tunstall. On Saturday, Paolo Nutini headlines, with My Morning Jacket, The Cribs, Seasick Steve, Rumer, They Might Be Giants and Ed Sheeran. Sunday will see Suede as the headline act, along with Hurts, Glasvegas, Iron & Wine and The Waterboys. The prestigious Sunday midday performance this year will be by Scala & Kolacny Brothers.

The Word Arena

Friday will feature Bombay Bicycle Club headlining, along with The Vaccines, Lyle Lovett and his Acoustic Group and Caribou. Saturday will see Foals headline, with Echo and The Bunnymen and I Am Kloot. Sunday will close with the headliners Eels, along with Lykke Li, OMD, Os Mutantes and Carl Barat.

Playing across all the music arenas over the course of festival, are on the Friday, Cloud Control, Grouplove, Avi Buffalo, Crocodiles, Glasser, Jenny and Johnny. Saturday will see Adam Ant, The Walkmen, Bellowhead and Villagers perform and Sunday will feature Anna Calvi, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Foster The People, Gold Panda, Kele, The Leisure Society, Marques Toliver and The Naked and Famous.

Also appearing at Latitude are Fools Gold, The Head and the Heart, Oh Land, James Vincent McMorrow, The Bees, British Sea Power, Caitlin Rose, Chapel Club, Crystal Fighters, C.W. The Lake Stage

Huw Stephens presents The Lake Stage this year, which will feature Dutch Uncles, CocknBullKid, Dry The River, Admiral Fallow, The B. Goodes, Brown Brogues, Cerebral Ballzy, Dels, Fiction, Fixers, Friends Electric, Ghostpoet, Gwilym Gold, James Spankie, Jonny, Mazes, Still Corners, The Gentle Good, These Are End Times, Tribes, Various Cruelties, Y Niwl, Gary Nock and Gabriella Noble .

Sunrise Arena

Follow the winding path through the enchanting woodland and you will stumble upon a haven for the best in up-and-coming music. An intimate arena that bears witness to the exciting performances the new crop of talent has to offer - the Sunrise Arena has hosted some incredible, career-defining shows over the past five years and will feature DJ Annie Nightingale, Steve Mason, Submotion Orchestra, Cats Eyes and When Saints Go Machine.

Comedy

Over the past five years, Latitude's Comedy Arena has become a comedy festival in its own right. Bursting at the seams with the best comedic talent in the land crowds gather all day weekend to witness a variety of hilarious turns from an unrivalled line-up.

Literary Arena

Latitude celebrates the written word in all its glorious facets with its very own renowned library of literary excellence. Bringing together today’s most illustrious wordsmiths; the Literary Arena is a hub of storytelling, book discussions, lively debates and in-depth interviews.

This year will feature Instigate Debate with panel members: Rt Hon David Davis MP, Danni, Liz Jones, Jon Cruddas MP, Peter Tatchell, Gail Porter and Don Foster MP. Caberet Arena

A veritable feast of vaudeville fun and mischief, Latitude's Cabaret Arena is a carnival of top comedy and theatre. 2011 will feature Spymonkey, Ronnie King, Diane Spencer, Sue Maclaine, Jacksons Lane presents Slingshot Theatre, A Night In Berlin, Fat Content, Duckie, The Razzle, Tina C, Ida Barr, Rubberbandits, Showstopper: The Improvised Musical, Ovid's Metamorphoses, The Big Bingo Show, Will Adamsdale, Bourgeois and Maurice, Late Night Gimp Fight, Doctor Brown Because, Richard Dedomenici and Bryony Kimmings.

The Waterfront Stage

Floating on the surface of Latitude's central lake is the stunning Waterfront Stage, which this year will play host to Sadler's Wells, the English National Ballet, Flawless, Lost Dog, Alleviate, Fuel presents the visually stunning Electric Hotel and Sadler's Wells present: Zoo Nation.

The Faraway Forest

Unveiled for the first time last year, Latitude's fairytale Faraway Forest is a secret haven of dark desires, mysterious mayhem and salacious sin-filled pleasure. A very special addition to the programme in The Faraway Forest for this year will be The Winter's Ball which will take place on the Saturday night at the festival. Organisers will create a beautiful bespoke area modelled around a Narnia-esque scene; our own unique imagined magical land.

2011 will feature The Night Circus, Les Enfants Terribles, Badaude, The Paper House, Gwendolen Chatfield, Rachel Rose Reid & The Roundhouse Experimental Choir, Native Faces and City Shanty Band.

In The Woods

Exploring the many pathways snaking through the enchanting woodland little pockets of treats and surprises are just waiting to be discovered. By day or night, The Woods are an intriguing and beguiling place to spend your time. This year will feature Eddy Temple-Morris, Feeling Gloomy, Beef Warehouse and Goldierocks.

Pandora's Playground

This year Pandora's Playground will feature RSPLB, The Cave, Videotopia, Ordinary Adventures, Ironbark, Modern Toss Activity Centre, Fuel Sheds, Dance East, Disco Shed, Jenny Edbrooke, Made In China, String Theatre, Circus Space, Flabbergast and The Beaux Belles.

Latitude Contemporary Art Award and Exhibition

This year will feature Alice Anderson, Graham Dolphin, Andy Harper, Delaine Le Bas, Maslen & Mehra and Graeme Miller.
