Seminal Songs...(or coming-of-age songs lol)

Yes songs, not fluids! lol You know the ones, the ones that upon first hearing them the hairs on the back of your neck stood up...the ones that made you think "I've never heard anything like this before"...I could name bands like the stone roses, nirvana, the smiths (since they're of my era and I could go on)...I mean, when you see someone talking about hearing the beatles for the first time, they always get that look...you know the one, the "Yeah but you had to be there at the time" look lol What are your coming-of-age songs/bands?

Earliest would have been Blondie but I was too young to understand why the other kids didn't like them but ABBA - Later on it would have to be Motown Junk by MSP

Being raised in a Beatles household my earliest memory is hearing The Beatles - "This Boy" and instantly liking it. Looking back I think it was the mixture of the guitar intro and the almost tourtured soul vocal style of John. The harmonies were also brilliant. Something about it just stuck a chord with me and whenever I hear that song I remember back to my younger and carefree years. So many bands & songs play a part in my life but "This Boy" holds a special place in my heart.

For me that would be Sleepflower, the opening track from the manics second album Gold against the soul. I was 12 at the time and it was the first time i had heard the manics. I've been a fan ever since.
