Hard Rock Calling 2008: Review, live tracks, photos and interview
Monique Oliver caught up with Starsailor ahead of their Hard Rock Calling gig.
Starsailor frontman James Walsh has announced that he wants the band to keep growing bigger and more successful. They are, however, undeniably already both of these things.
They also have a rather impressive collection of hits to their name. Their fans are more than happy at
Hard Rock Calling today thanks to being able to see live songs including 'Poor Misguided Fool', 'Alcoholic' and 'Four To The Floor'.
The crowd ripples with the standard raised arms waving and there's a beach ball being launched back and forth overhead, but for the most part the crowd are just listening to the music and the banter. Walsh seems a friendly sort of fella, letting us in on the fact that he's just moved to North London - the fans will be happy he's settled in the capital - and is having a baby, to whom he sweetly dedicates a song.
We also get some variation on the Starsailor soundtrack, including a line of Gorillaz song 'Dare' and a performance of their brand new song 'Tell Me It's Not Over', which goes down well.
Closing their set with 'Good Souls', the band work fantastically together, have been a pleasure to watch and gave the crowd reason to stick around and pay attention instead of heading over to the beer tent for a top up, and that's a pretty big achievement for any band on a hot day.
