This is the great compilation of most Queen hits. Beautiful songs. The best song that you ever heard

It has been now 17 years since Freddie's death and we still haven't had a Queen Box Set of Rarities etc. like the Freddie Mercury one. Now they are releasing singles box sets, why? Most fans have all these songs either on the studio albums or various Greatest Hits packages (Ok except See What A Fool I've Been on certain countries albums). Queen fan completists will buy this album, but I certainly will not. Yes great songs this set but its really an expensive Greatest Hits 1 type package with the singles b sides and you can pick up the albums on the net quite cheaply if you look around. C'mon Queen Productions give us a decent release, not rehashing of old stuff

Just to add to comments from J.Milner, the vast majority of people will already have these songs (I've got pretty much all of them on 7" vinyl as well as all the Albums on both vinyl and CD) but the packaging is all important to a real music enthusiast - it's the whiole that is more important than purely the audio produced but I also have to agree somewhat on the price. Since this really is for the enthuiast / true Queen fan, the cost of production, distribution etc plus a small profit should have been sufficient. Although vinyl has all but disappeared, I still prefer to buy a CD rather than download it, this way I can have the artwork etc and still rip the CD for use in my portable devices giving an automatic backup in the process! I'd far rather get off my backside and browse the shops and make a purchase than stare at a screen all evening where chance purchases leading to little gems in my collection would be missed. Since this set covers a large segment of the band's career with Freddie at the helm, hopefully the comments on price can be taken on board for the upcoming boxed singles releases.

Mr N D Harris seems to miss the point of this box set. This isn't supposed to replicate the Greatest Hits album or indeed be treated as such. I would guess that every person who buys this already has the songs on other albums. The whole point of this is simple - Nostalgia. These songs were issued as singles back in the days when singles actually meant something. Speaking from personal experience I would eagerly await the issue of a new single and, more often than not, would buy them even if I had the song on an LP. In these days of characterless MP3s and the obsession with quantity not quality there is very little to appeal to the serious music enthusiast who, as well as being a fan of the music, is also interested in the packaging. These type of releases serve two purposes - they help fans, like myself, relive their youth in a purposefully indulgent way and also allow the presentation of a product in a more exciting way than just a random compressed file on a computer. I, for one, applaud Queen and EMI for the effort and attention they have put into this project. My only criticism of the product is the price. It is WAY too expensive.
I hope labels keep on issuing products such as this. Some of us (quite a few by what I have ascertained) regard packaging as an essential part of music products. We are constantly ridiculed by the media for being old fashioned in our wish to hang on to paper and plastic. The MP3 has reduced music to a disposable commodity and I refuse to acknowledge it as a format. How refreshing to see a product that is unashamedly 'old-fashioned'. Long may it continue.

This Queen the singles collection box set volume 1 is nicely represented in the usual pomp and grandeur of what made the band what they are as the singles are backed up by some good lesser numbers like "39", "You and I" etc which sways the set from being seen as somthing to rip the fans and non fans alike of their hard earned cash.

Its a pity bands and solo artists tend to release singles as downloads rather than onto a physical object backed up with decent album artwork which back then was popular as what the internet provides these days.
