Iron Maiden

Review: Download Festival 2007

Everyone at Donington is here to see Iron Maiden and it shows as they easily pull the biggest crowd of the weekend. They play for ages pulling out all the hits, left, right and centre.

They start with 'Different World' and the riffs gallop and swoop as Bruce Dickinson stalks the stage, rousing and riling the thousands who have congregated in front of him.

They play songs like 'The Trooper' and 'Run To The Hills' which make grown men run through swampy fields to see their heroes. It's 25 years since they released 'Number Of The Beast' and Bruce commemorated the fact as they played the song.

They also brought on a giant tank which featured their famous mascot, Eddie as they played 'Iron Maiden'. Another version of Eddie was brought on later and they played 'The Evil That Men Do'.
