Kaiser Chiefs
Live at V Festival 2008
Video interview and live tracks
Live review
Ah, Chief Kaiser Ricky Wilson recently went on record as saying loads of the bands playing indie music in the modern way are a bit naff but watching this set, you know that something is definitely not average nowadays.
Nah, nah, nah. Oh my god, nobody could have predicted this riot because the Yorkshire quintet make a totally triumphant headlining return on the 4Music Stage in Chelmsford, the birthplace of radio. Ricky Wilson, dapper as ever, gets the party going as the rain comes down.
It feels like a proper festival now it's all wet and muddy and don't the Kaisers rise to the challenge. The Kaisers play some real some rubies tonight as well as new tune 'Never Miss A Beat' and even though some bands might love the Kaisers less and less now, love's not a competition. And the Kaisers are winning.
The angry mob of a crowd lap up every verse and sing every chorus. We reckon you could probably sing some now, even if you’re not there, such is the spirit of these anthems. On the basis of this show, the Kaiser Chiefs are going to be in employment for a very, very long time to come and we are very pleased about it. Forget about the rain, long live the Kaiser Chiefs.
