(10224 views)2008 Previewed: Album Releases, Festivals and New Bands
Here we are at the beginning of another year. After all the end of year lists and
quizzes, it's time to start looking forward to whatever's going to happen in 2008.
Here at Virgin Radio, we're all wondering what bands will emerge for the first time, which relics will re-surface with new albums and just who is going to be headlining our summer festivals.
We've got a few ideas already. If you want to know what we think, read on and then
tell us what you reckon's going to go down in 2008.
New Bands

2007 was a great year for new music as we enjoyed discovering great artists like
Plain White T's (pictured, right),
Newton Faulkner and
The Hoosierss as well as solo artists like
Jack Penate and
Amy MacDonald and bands like
The Enemy and
The View.
Next year we're tipping : Liverpudlians
The Wombats; Yorkshire's answer to The Killers,
One Night Only; Wales' rather attractive answer to Amy Winehouse,
Duffy (pictured, below); London's other Amy Winehouse,
Adele ; and Mancunian retro rockers,
The Courteeners to name but a few.
New Releases
January is traditionally a very dry month for new releases so we're just going to ignore it in favour of telling you about all the great albums arriving in February and March.
February
Jack Johnson -
Sleep Through The Static

The Feeling -
Join With Us
Sheryl Crow -
Detours
March
REM - Accelerate
The Kooks -
Konk
Duffy -
Rockferry
Bryan Adams - 11
Festivals and Beyond
Beyond then, however, there is a magnitude of expected releases from bands such as Keane,Coldplay
(pictured, left), David Gray,

Goo Goo Dolls and Eric Clapton as well as long-hoped-for new albums from AC/DC, The Killers, Metallica, Oasis and U2.
The majority of these bands are all well capable of headlining huge
summer festivals and some of those already confirmed to headline, such as The Police and Sex Pistols might surprise us with new material.
Of course, there are always the really big names from whom a new album would be a really long shot. Step forward Led Zeppelin, Rage Against The Machine and Guns N' Roses.
Have Your Say
What do you think about all this? Which of these do you think will materialise? Are you expecting albums from anyone else? Have your say below.
