Glasvegas

Introducing...

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Glasvegas hail from the sunny climes of Glasgow, Scotland. Not Las Vegas.

Famed music industry mogul Alan McGee, legendary for his involvement in the careers of such greats as Primal Scream and Oasis, was asked by a friend of the band to listen to their single. He ignored them several times, eventually caving and has backed them ever since.

With a trail of limited edition 7” singles in their wake, Glasvegas were poised to take on the big bad music industry with their self-titled album.

With the fine pedigree of Alan McGee behind the band, they also enlisted producer Rich Costey. If you don’t know that name, you’ll at least know some of the greats he’s worked with, which include Franz Ferdinand, Interpol and Muse.

Since releasing the album on 8 September, Glasvegas has reigned the charts and gained critical acclaim, with NME calling it ‘the album of the year,’ and Q heralding the album as ‘music of national significance.’ It is estimated the album sold over 100,000 copies in the first 3 days of its release. From what we’ve heard so far, this band seem well deserving of the hype surrounding them.
