More of my top tunes

WELCOME to part two of a never ending blog in which I rabbit on about my top tunes. This bit begins with Annie Lennox, who started out singing 'I only wanna be with you' as The Tourists, met Dave Stewart, formed The Eurythmics, made loads of good tunes, went solo. Which is where I add my praise for Annie's work on the album 'Diva' (1992), the song I love is the track 'Why' which begins with the line 'How many times do I have to try to tell you that I'm sorry for the things I've done?' A powerful song from start to finish, I love it, hope you do too.

Next is Bon Jovi, simply because the first record I bought was 'Livin on a prayer', over 20 years ago now, the second record I bought was 'The Final Countdown' by Europe... Bon Jovi have always been a great band, from 'Slippery When Wet' to 'Keep The Faith' and beyond, I particularly love the '94 single 'Always', a great tune with some sweet memories for me :)

Third of the four is David Bowie, who must be coming up to 40 years of bringing out great tunes in many various guises - Ziggy Stardust, anyone? I'm a fan of everything Bowie has done, I think 'Heroes' is my fave tune and my mind revives his set at Live Aid, followed by the film from CBC of the children in Ethiopia. Live Aid will be revisited in a future post.

Finally for now, step forward the grand old dame of showbiz, yes, the one and only Sir Elton John. Flambuoyant is an understatement for a man who has undeniably written, recorded, performed so many fantastic songs starting with 'Your Song' at the beginning of his career and still touring with the album 'The Captain And The Kid' this summer. I have a ticket to see Elton in concert at Brunton Park, Carlisle, this coming June, I'm very much looking forward to what will be a great night.

That's all for now, hope you enjoyed this ramble, please leave your comments (kind ones I hope)!
