Taliesin Orchestra - Tribute to the Hits of Enya (2006)

The fourth of Taliesin Orchestra's Enya tribute albums and in my view the second best after Orinoco Flow. IMO the best tracks are the orchestral tracks. On tracks where vocals are attempted, they inevitably fail to match Enya's high standard. And where Taliesin ventures into pop, results are similarly disappointing.

Enya's music responds magnificently to the full strings treatment, and one realises what superb melodies so many of her numbers are. With Charles Sayre's inspired arranging, the music is taken to new heights.

Into the `outstanding' category I would put Amarantine, Orinoco Flow (a Sail Away symphony), May It Be, Watermark and Hope Has A Place.

Then there are those which are pleasant enough and easy listening - Wild Child, Caribbean Blue, and Paint The Sky With Stars.

And finally the `turkeys', Only Time, Only If, Celts, and Anywhere Is. Don't let them stop you getting this album though. It is inspired, and it will refresh your enjoyment and appreciation of Enya.
