The album alone I would give 5 stars. Its absolutely incredible, I have been hooked to this band for the last year or so and this doesnt disappoint. Despite already having OK time for plan B, return to energiser, sorry your not a winner, and mothership, I am not disappointed with the rest of the songs on the album. The opening 2 songs just leave u shouting WOW! :] I dont think the reworked vocals on some of the more well known songs are that bad, you notice a difference, but i didnt really care about it when I heard it. My advice is play this LOUD LOUD LOUD!
I gave this version of the album 4 out of 5 simply because I dont really think its worth getting the DVD, unless you were actually there at the Astoria, in which case its nice to see yourself looking sweaty. I've seen enter shikari twice and this live video doesnt do them justice at all. Its cool to see them messing around backstage, but its nowhere near the same as being there. Its also made me realise just how irritating enter shikari fans actually are...a lot of the DVD is a load of 15year olds caressing their girlfriends going on about how original enter shikari are. Mate, I know they're great, its why I bought the CD. If only there was more actual songs (theres only about 3 or 4 played) and less chat.
Otherwise, GET THE ALBUM, AND GO AND SEE ENTER SHIKARI LIVE... THEY'RE AMAAAAZING!

I've been into enter shikari for a while now. Some of their songs don't always quite work, others sound amazing. Sorry You're Not A Winner, Anything Can Happen In The Next Half Hour, and Enter Shikari are standout tracks that work perfectly. Other songs sound awkward and the album kind of drops off towards the end. There is also only really 11 tracks on this album. Including the intro and the closing there are 6 fillers/interludes.
All of this aside, I actually like this album and I like the band. They are creating something slightly different and fresh. In the parts of this album where it all comes together you can really tell that enter shikari are pretty special.
I'd deffinately recomend buying this album. Even if it's not all to your taste you'll find something that you'll like. I personally listen to Sorry You're Not A Winner about 20 times a day.
Artwork is pretty damn sweet as well. Not the clasic metal album artwork which always seem to show death, distruction and fire.

I heard Enter Shikari about a year ago with the song 'Return to Energiser'. After seeing them 3 times i have become a huge fan and think their combination of sceamo and trance is extremley addictive.
With 'Take to the Skies' you have updated versions of classics plus some new tracks and a number of euphoric interludes.
One of the best things about the album is the way it flows due to these interludes which just melt into the next track.
The album is structured well and the new versions of 'anything can happen in the next half hour...', 'Labyrinth' and 'Sorry, your not a winner' sound fresh, tighter and with far more energy.
However one thing that bugs me about several tracks on the album is the inclusion of a new vocal sound which can only be described as growling by someone who can't and turns out sounding a bit constipated.
Otherwise the new songs sound electric and furious with a couple of softer songs which i don't think takes the pace away from the album too much.
This album is well worth a purchase but make sure you see them live for a breathtaking display.

What can i say about this band?Just this, GREAT! This record is one of the best this year so far! I love this band so much. It is just so much more then the given tag of "trance-core". You must give them a go.....
