Gravity is a sweet tune, warmly emotional and sonically luscious, but it is in effect a Trojan horse for the album it heralds, the astounding Out Of Nothing. But nevermind that, because this single will be more than worth picking up for the b-sides that come with it, let alone the lovely lead song. Waterfall is a delicate, swooning five-minute ballad recorded live in one take by the band, in the mould of past b-sides like I've Been Running. The Shot's Still Ringing piles layers of melody on top of affectingly intriguing lyrics and the kind of tuneful twists that the likes of Coldplay wish they could make so easily. Wasted is a gospel-type number, layered with loud guitar and designed to be sung aloud. But it's Too Many Times which is the real secret, a bizarre, futurist slice of guitar pyrotechnics, spacerock gone r'n'b, twitchy rhythms and savage guitar lines run through with a jerking, dynamic rhythm - it's one of the best things they've done.

It's been a while, but Embrace are back - and if this single is anything to go by, this time they mean business!Gravity was written by Coldplay's Chris Martin, who decided that it sounded more like an Embrace track as opposed to a Colplay track. Coldplay's loss is Embrace's gain, as Gravity is a stunning piano-led ballad that will have people humming along for weeks. The single is up there with classic Embrace tracks such as Wonder and Come back to what you know, but it should also appeal to new fans as well. Embrace are back and if this single is an indication of the quality of their forthcoming album, then they are sure to be going places.
