These guys have to be one of the most underrated bands out there.Even though they hail from Brighouse,West Yorkshire, where i am currently, there are some mighty fine tunes to be heard on this album. My particular fave has to be "come back to what you know".A real anthem and one of several to be gleaned from this release.May have been overshadowed by acts such as Oasis and The verve but i strongly recommend this if you are a fan of the aforementioned bands. You will not be disappointed!!!

Embrace have some fantastic stuff on there three albums. It just never got released nor did they make it onto the greatest hits which is a shame for those wanting to give them a chance by getting this alvbum. Embrace have so much potential and i think would do better to get a new lead singer! Mr mcnamaras voice can become a bit tedious at times but the songs are still fantastic. Best song is definetly fireworks! gives me goosebumps still after numerous listens!

Never heard of Embrace? You like so many others have missed out on the magic. But thanks to this singles collection it's a perfect introduction into Embrace. The track I like the most is Good Will Out, a simple piano tune with a haunting melody. If you want to be cheered up though then there's All You Good Good People, We Got A Family and You're Not Alone.Overall a brilliant way to introduce yourself to one of Britain's best bands.

Sorry?- I thought that bands like Eternal were scraping the barrel with a best of after three-albums. A new low was set by All Saints best-of & now this from Embrace (and other also-rans The Bluetones). What next?- the best of Kula Shaker & Supergrass?Embrace,to be fair, sufferred due to the demise of the EP. The four-track single was phased out- which affected them & Mansun- whose fans would buy the singles (for the bonus tracks) & the albums... The first few ep's (& Fierce Panda single 'All You Good Good People') had an appeal about them. Songs like 'Fireworks' & 'Now You're Nobody' pointed more towards a potential progression to the sound of Blue Nile or Talk Talk. While 'One Big Family' was a loveable singalong blend of indie & funk. Then the lacklustre debut appeared- lots of the ep tracks re-recorded; as with the Elastica, Oasis & Suede debuts it packed full of songs the fans previously had on singles. Plus songs like 'The Good Will Out' while bombastic in ambition were thin in content & thinner in vocal...The follow-up album was an improvement, but by then people had stopped caring: 'Hooligan' was just another sub-Beck styled song that could have been Gomez or post-'Mutations'-Beck himself. While 'Save me' had horrid 80's keyboards & could have stemmed from Simple Minds Wallpaper Years period. The ballads were all dull, the music pasty indie-white boy & the future did not look good. The third album arrived with an intention to give us Embrace's 'Sister Lovers' or 'Happy Sad'; it was just sparse indie rock- a poor man's Sunhouse. And now, after a brief period 1997-2001 really, we have the best of. The accelerated culture we live in- that has transported Oasis to tribute band to themselves in a 1/4 of the time it took the Rolling Stones, is to blame. Given the space to develop & build both a sound & audience over EP's & LP's Embrace could have been something. Could have been contenders...Now they are nostalgia for a time that really wasn't that long ago- as dissappointing as the New Labour government that this could be seen as a soundtrack to.

This is a great album with great songs on it. 'All you good good people' is one of the great Embrace songs and a great kicking off point for the new album. Fireworks has got some great singles on it like 'Three is a magic number' and single versions of other songs like 'I wouldn't wanna happen to you' which i personally think is brilliant. If you want to listen to the best of Embrace and don't want to have to keep swapping all the albums in your CD player then this is a great album to buy, in my view anyway. The only problem that i have picked up by looking at the albums play list is that if you have the other three albums then you will have a few of the songs already.
