A varied set of songs from one of the 1970s supergroups. Their image does nothing to sell the music these days - for those not dedicated to the greatness that is Jeff Lynne they come over as beardy uncles but the quality of the songs and production is superb. Face The Music contains some real crackers - a few singles may jog the memory of 30+ listeners - but there are some good 'uns that never made it onto 7inch vinyl. Fire On High is a superb track... A New World Record was the one that really launched them onto the UK scene. Telephone Line, Rockaria!, they're all there. It's interesting to see how many bands have sampled ELO music over the past ten years or so... I believe that this stands the test of time and is still head and shoulders above what a lot of bands churn out today.

When I saw this 2CD set I was wondering if I should shell out the extra money on the remastered editions with bonus tracks. In fact, both CDs have the extra tracks that are not listed in the Amazon review. There is a really nice booklet accompanying each CD with notes from the ELO archivist that has loads of memorabilia in scrap book style. Notes include insights as to how the albums were made and origins of the songs - if you are an ELO fan or thinking about investing in this twin set then it is a bargain.
