I'm in America, but I love Mcfly very much. Just so happens these lovely chaps toured with them so why not check them out. I first heard the 30 second previews on there myspace and was blown away. This band is like nothing I have ever heard. Guitar solos that are Dragonforce-esque and piano that gets very classical, but still great poppy vocals and a little bit of rock. They fit my music type so much, and I absolutely LOVE them.

My favorites are the singles of course, there single worthy but not overplayed!
My Picks :
-Parallel Worlds-Talking about ghosts, and hauntings. My new theme song :]
-Still figuring It out-opening with lovely solo singing by Ed, and also quite poppy and fun to dance to
-The White one is evil-VERYY wonderful song. Amazing classical power, and one of those songs that are melodic and epic.
-The Broken Minor-A song about a song. Who would of thought?
-Time after Time-a very optimistic, quite lovely.
-Silently-the vocals sound like a choir in a cathedral at one part, once again where the classical part comes in.

Who are they?
Elliot Minor are five not exactly ugly young men from York who enjoy guitars and Hammond organs AT THE SAME TIME.

What do they sound like?
McFly drag-racing Brian May and Queen's Flash! soundtrack around Meatloaf's first album in a My Chemical Romance training bra.

Are they rubbish or will they stick around?
With songs like these, get used to them. Several singles (The White One Is Evil, Still Figuring Out and Parallel Worlds) have already been hits and the album hit the top 10 on its first week of release. The 'classically trained' thing is a bit of a gimmick and it's hardly new (Bat Out of Hell, anyone?) but it works. This is proper "wish I was a teenager", crank up the volume, good fun music and it's fabulous.

AMAZING.

First off, I will say that this is not G W Hope, it is his son writing a review for Elliot Minor's debut set.

And what a fantastic debut album it is! A solid record consisting of fun, catchy, quality pop-rock numbers; each track brilliant as ever, Elliot Minor is definately one of the best albums of 2008 and most certainly the best Britain have to offer. Hey, even the artwork and the booklet (whilst rather similar to the magnificent My Chemical Romance's The Black Parade - it's even used with the same style paper) are stunning!

All the singles are included here: "Parallel Worlds", "The White One Is Evil" and Top 20 hits "Jessica" and "Still Figuring Out". All four tracks are fantastic - they're all that good I can't even pick a favourite out. The album opener "Time After Time" has also been suggested for a future release and in my opinion is a fantastic choice with its hooking lyrics and vocals and catchy melodies. Other favourites of mine include "Running Away", "Last Call To New York City" and my particular favourite Elliot Minor song as of yet, the beautiful "The Liar Is You". The melodies, lyrics and vocals really shine through on this track. Remaining tracks "Lucky Star", "The Broken Minor" and the gorgeous "Silenty" are also fantastic.

Overall, the album is not one to be missed. Highly recommended and if you like this record (I don't see why you shouldn't - just look at the high ratings on other reviews for the album!) I'd strongly suggest you see them live - highly entertaining stuff. VERY talented guys. It's no wonder why Elliot Minor really are Britain's finest. And, although this album entered the Official UK Album Charts (unsurprisingly, in my honest opinion) straight inside the Top 10, it's a shame these fantastic guys aren't getting more success or credit that they truly deserve.

Right...first of all, I've been a big fan of Elliot Minor pretty much since they were 'The Academy' and to be honest, first time I listened to this album I was majorly disappointed, I could have easily given it 3 stars.....but as I'm all for second chances, I gave it another shot to redeem itself....and it did!

People might think that their music is flawless but this album is far from it......songs such as 'Last Call To NYC', 'Time After Time' (Although I'm warming to the album version) and 'Lucky Star' have been performed much better in their original demos and upon hearing them on the new album I was disappointed. That aside there is nothing wrong with their music and some of the songs have undergone amazing tranformations such as 'The Liar Is You' and 'Silently' which are emotionally challenging and beautifully written as Ali's piano playing combined with Alex and Ed's amazing harmonising, truly shows that they're where they deserve to be! The hit singles 'Jessica', the classic 'Parallel Worlds' and 'Still Figuring Out' are as catchy as hell and you'll become instantly hooked! However, the mindblowing 'The White One Is Evil' and in all its glory, a musically unparalleled explosion of pure bliss is unleashed in the 'The Broken Minor' as you see their classical influences and their musicianship skills soar above other bands, putting them in an entirely different league whilst creating a genre of music entirely their own!

However I have criticisms of this album. First of all, as mentioned some of the original demos were a lot better than the album versions, simply because there is more musical content in them which made them more intresting to listen to. For example in the demos, the guitar solo in 'Parallel Worlds' was clear concise and catchy as balls, but with the album version is seemed to have got drowned out. Also in the demos, 'Time After Time' had powerful piano and guitars solo's which was simply bliss, but the piano and guitar solo is weaker on the album version which is a shame, although the climatic finale with the orchestrated classical/rock bombast definately makes up for it. My second criticism, which isnt directly linked to the album, is that they have produced some incredible tracks and instead of putting them on the album, songs such as 'Running Away' and 'Lucky Star' managed to sneak on. To be honest a bit of the emotionally rivetting 'Another Morning' or Wait Another Week' or maybe the infamous, yet catchy 'Jacky Jules' wouldn't go a miss and would surely go down more of a storm instead....but thats my opinion!

Saying this, Elliot Minor have put a great album out but check out some of their old demos because they are some little gems which you may not know about =] but all in all this album was worth the wait!
Bring Jacky back sometime! =]

Its a good album. Ever since I heard Parallel worlds I got hooked on them completely. I love the harmonizing and I really just wanna see them in concert now. My best song is Still figuring out and my worst is Jessica.. Its not all that. I dont feel like I threw my money right down the drain. I got the CD yesterday and I have been playing it non stop. Its awesome.
