Absolute Radio: Discover real music

This is terrific value and a terrific performance. But the whole thing is let down by an indifferent and unsympathetic recording. I saw her live just a few weeks back and she has the most extraordinary vocal power and dynamic range. But you wouldn't know it from this over-compressed and over-equalised recording. Such a pity. I suppose its unreasonable to expect a true audiophile recording, but surely this fine performer deserves something better? The unaccredited (what's the point of that omission?) band are absolutely top notch. Perhaps I'm being a little over-critical here, maybe. On the other hand, at the low asking price, this double CD offers a reasonable introduction to her live. There is no substitute for being in her audience though. Catch her while you can.
