Reading some of the reviews on this site I find the positive comments really describe this C.D. The vocals on ELECTRIC LADY are SUPERB!!! This is an Album to have in a REAL music lovers collection.

I am amazed and proud, still after all these years this lady has never played the music game and sold out!! - she has the best rock, blues, jazz voice, fact is this album is a snap of her massive talent, I love the album and look forward to her next, god bless you Elk - thank you for being so down to earth

I had been to see Elkie Brooks recently at Ronnie Scotts in London and was expecting great things from this CD. Unfortunately Elkie's live energy doesn't translate well to the recording studio. There are some great moments here - Bob Dylan's Grooms Still Waiting at the Altar and a great reading of Tony Joe White's Out of the Rain are stand-out tracks which Elkie takes by the scruff of the neck and really makes hers. But these classic blues are unfortunately mixed with some dreadful MOR pop numbers (Trailer Trash, So Good Looking) which drag what could have been one of her finest offerings down to the standard of Pop Idol. Stick to what your're best at Elkie and you will blow the competition out of the water. Electric Lady just doesn't do it I'm afraid.

After reading such glowing reviews of this cd,i couldn`t wait to get my hands on it.I love the girl`s voice, and to hear her sing a blues album !!!!!!!!!I was SO disappointed when i heard it,finally.Apart from "Roadhouse blues",when she does let go,just a little,it all seems very "safe" and "predictable." Wonderful singing,as always from "The Elk",a true artist at work......but is is SO "safe !" and boringly so.I found myself skipping tracks though, trying to find something really worth listening to,and was disappointed,VERY disappointed.Even the music is,again, safe and predictable, the talent of Geoff Whitehorn doesn`t shine out, even !For a display of his abilities, check out "Now", when he worked with Paul Rodgers. Not a cd i`d recommend to anyone,i`m returning my copy to Amazon.I feel i shouldn`t be criticising this cd,i wanted SO much to give it 5 stars and rave about it.........but i can`t.Perhaps it`s just me.........whatever.........buy it,listen to it.....but don`t like it just `cos you feel you should !

What can I say. I was taken to see Elkie Brooks in Leeds where I managed to pick up a copy of this album. I was stunned. This album is without doubt the best album Elkie has made in the last 20 years. Her voice gets better and better. The title track deserves to be a big hit and Out of the rain is one of the most moving songs I have heard in years. There is something for everyone on this album. I just can not believe how good it really is.
