Damien Rice's Lyrics = Beauty..

His songs are from the soul.
Full of beauty.
The sense of depression is comforting.
An amazing artist and songwriter.
Truth. That's what it is.
Hope some of you feel the same way.

I'm not sure depression is ever that comforting even if it is Damien Rice.

Heard Cannonball -> Bought 'O' album -> Listened to it three times to give it a chance -> decided never to risk my life like that again. Boring Tripe!

I like coldplay and Radiohead so it's not that it's depressing. It's just not very good and depressing at the same time.

Depressing music has its place, it is there to bring about emotion that may be hidden for some reason. I just don't think depression should be viewed as a comfort as such.

As for Coldplay - they really shouldn't be included with the likes of Radiohead and Damien Rice. Coldplay are a very deriviative band and sum up the word 'boring' in music form. Damien Rice and Radiohead, however morose, at least have originality and a fairly unique musical style.

However, in saying all of this - this is just my opinion, we live in a diverse world with diverse tastes. Chris Martin has his place and I'm sure he is delighted with that.

His musics are really enjoyable. The best ones are Cannonball (mix) and Rootless Tree in my opinion. Damien Rice represents perfectly what the word "music" really means.

Damien Rice is actually one heck of a great artist! Specially when he has Lisa Hannigan singing as well [they've actually decided to sop making music together which is actually really sad concidering how wonderful their two voices are together]
But it's true Damien's songs really do have a meaning to them! If you concentrate hard enough you can actually feel what he's saying. My mate is soo into his music she made me download both his WHOLE albums and listen to them. Probally why I am very into him now =D

I agree, he has so much writing and singing talent, as well as being a great acoustic guitarist.

As well as having beautiful melodies and instrumental backing, plus the harmonies with Lisa, he somehow gets so much emotion into his voice as he sings!

For instance, Rootless Tree, the chorus, it actually makes me feel angry, because there is so much anger and desperate power in his voice when he sings.

I'm saddened to hear that him and Lisa have stopped singing together, but i hope he will continue to write and release and i can't wait to see him at the V festival this year.

I love the Blower's Daughter and Cannonball. Whenever am in the need of a good cry, and I have bouts of feeling like that, always listen to this kind of depressing music. Then, when have had a good old cry I put on Keith Richards, Happy and that cheers me up no end and I feel much better!
