It is similar. A high profile band like Coldplay is too aware of the implications of copying music. They know very well that they wouldn't get away with it. In my opinion - not copied!

Joe's Song is of a suggestive nature, nothing less than brilliant. What was Coldplay thinking? Probably something they could not get out of their heads. Subconciously they maybe UNCO...In one Ear & out the Other!

Happens all the time. There are millions of songs out there, and only a handful of notes to play with.

You should listen to It's A Beautiful Day, Bombay Calling on their debut album in 1968 & Live in Carnegie Hall & compare with Child in Time dated 1970 by Deep Purple! Isn't it true The Rolling Stones get the rights for Bitter Sweet Symphony because The Verve used the same classical passage?
