Public schoolboy Chris Martin and his A list actress wife Gywneth Paltrow have a dirty little secret, they are secret fans of Pete Andre and Jordan. Chris Martin made numerous references throughout the interview to their reality show: “Hand on heart I will express my undying respect and love for Peter Andre. I think that show is amazing!”

Not many people make Chris Martin star struck or ‘respect struck’ but it seems Stephen Fry makes the singer's knees wobble: “I went through a period of thinking “Oh, I won’t say anything to Stephen Fry if I bump into him because he doesn’t want to hear it”, but then I thought “Well actually, that’s nonsense”. I got to meet him the other day and I was very star-struck around him but it made me happy to say “I think you’re great and thanks for all the pleasure you’ve given me”.

Coldplay have always being perceived as very well behaved and posh. Not so according to Martin: “I take the credit for being the only band member that everyone else has threatened to hit. Well that’s just the singer’s curse don’t you know? Singers tend to be really quite annoying people within.”

Talking about their forthecoming new album the lead singer who is clearly nervous about how ‘Viva La Vida’ is received by the public told Ben Jones: “We know that we couldn’t have done any better. But we’re not necessarily sure if that makes it any good.”

The band are set to release their fourth album 'Viva La Vida' on 12 June, which falls on a Thursday, much to Martin’s distaste: “Why are we doing that? Why are we releasing it on a Thursday?”

Although most bands see the decline in records across the world as a disadvantage Chris Martin thinks it a good thing: “That is one of the great things about the music industry changing so much. ‘Cos records don’t sell so many copies, you have a bit less pressure. You know, you can always blame it ‘a lot of people don’t buy records anyway’.”

Stories about hip hop producer Timbaland producing the album was all hearsay according to Martin: “That was never actually true that Timbaland thing, but it was a nice rumour”.

Maybe one for the future though as hip hop is clearly a genre Martin has a soft spot for. He has collaborated with the likes of Kanye West and hip hop mogul Jay Z in the past.
