Sad

I'm sad today,

my son has just lost a good friend very suddenly, he is in bits and I am in bits for him. Life throws terrible things at us but I ask why take the life of 20 year old with so much to give.

I am to post some songs on my facebook profile on the day of the funeral as a tribute, starting with helicopter, bloc party. Jason's favourite song.  Its a sad time all round.

My heart goes out to Jason's family and my thoughts, of course, are with them.

Paul Weller - Steve Cradock on fabchannel

Watch out for this one, Weller fans.

http://www.fabchannel.com/paul_weller_steve_cradock

I think you can watch it live on the 14th September.  After that it will be archived and you can watch it as often as you like.  It sometimes takes a week or so after till the archived show is available.

Fabchannel is worth a look for performances by other bands such as The View, The Datsuns, Bloc Party and Arcade Fire not to forget the wonderful Duke Special.  The sound quality is exceptional.

Live Earth

Woke up early yesterday morning, unusual for me on a Saturday. 49 long days ago I was one of the lucky ones to receive a text message from Ticketmaster telling me I can purchase two tickets for Live Earth.  You can imagine my excitement when I opened my eyes and it dawned on me that THE day has finally arrived.
After weeks and weeks of cold, miserable weather on 07/07/07 even the sun decided to make an appearance, as if the weather knew what the gig was all about.
Met up with some friends in Ealing Broadway, all young kids, used to going to festivals and concerts, old pros. One of the guys was getting ready to go to work that morning when his girlfriend told him to stop ironing his shirt because he was going to Wembley instead. Then she kindly phoned his boss on his behalf and told him he was too sick to come to work.  Never met the girl, but I like her already.
We caught a bus from Ealing Broadway and it was a long, torturous, hot journey, traffic on Hanger Lane is always slow. Sitting on top of the double-decker bus seeing the arch getting closer and closer.... that feeling in the pit of your stomach I had all morning getting more and more intense, we're nearly there!!!
As we were on the pitch we had to queue up for nearly 40 minutes slowly moving up and down stairs, onto the pavement and back up to the stadium again to get in, but no one cared. By that time the sun was shining full blast... saw two guys dressed as bananas (they must have been boiling underneath) and finally we walked onto the pitch just as Chris Moyles in his unmissable black leather jacket introduces Genesis. And they sure did not disappoint.  We're dancing away already, then it's Razorlight, everybody shouting 'watching America,....', Snow Patrol got us all moving.  Time for a breather during David Grey and Damien Rice performance before we're all jumping around with Kasabian.
Loved Paolo Nutini, he is just so cute you want to take him home with you, he sure put some feelings into his performance.  My name comes up on the background during his performance.  Not a big fan of Black Eyed Peas, but my son likes them and they were energetic that's for sure.  Missed John Legend as I was queueing up for the toilets, as you do...but came back just in time for Duran Duran.  I used to have posters of Roger Taylor all over my bedroom when I was about 10 or 11!!
Then the moment I've been waiting for as Chris Rock introduces Red Hot Chili Peppers and the whole stadium is on their feet. Gosh they were good!! Love Anthony with short hair, Flea and his energy, John so full of emotion, Chad drumming away like there's no tomorrow in his blue shirt, love all the songs they chose to play, especially 'So much I' and 'By the way'.  I could have listened to them all night.
Keane were excellent and the whole stadium broke into a sing-a-long, but nothing could prepare me for Metallica, my gang are all big fans, this was the moment they were all waiting for and boy were they something else!! My daughter said to me this morning she did not like the guy with the beard as he looked mean and nasty he he.
By the time Spinal Tap come on I am exhausted, sweaty, my feet are stuck to the floor from spilt beverages, people are making big chains with discarded plastic cups, everyone is dirty but happy, there are some serious Mexican waves going round the seating area - amazing to see when you're on the floor. They were joined by "every bass player in the universe", seeing Metallica guitarists back on stage got everybody going again.
What a day! Beastie Boys proved they still got it, and the Foo fighters were (as my friend Emma put it) effing brilliant!!!
The queen of pop rounds it all up and shows why she holds the title. Never been a fan, but you got to hand it to her, she is great.
There you go, I had an absolutely amazing time in Wembley yesterday, my feet are still killing me, I feel like I've been trampled on, my throat is sore from all the shouting and screaming and singing......definitely a day I will not forget for a long long time.

radio one BIG weekend

wooooo i can hear the sirens coming lmao it was a bloody fantastic night!!!

i sooo stayed at the INMWT stage ( coz i really would pick kaiser's over my beloved maximo!!!!)

M.I.A was really good, very interesting live act and good at engaging the crowd. loved the costumes they were wearing thou it did start making my eyes go funny!?!

Dizzie Rascal was fcuking fantastic :) was brilliant, thou i think thats where my first set of barrier bruises came from ( i was right at the front in the middle and very unfortunately appear alot on the telly. i am in hiding now ) his set seemed to be over way to quickly for my liking.

klaxons were ok, iv seen them play alot better but the crowd were mad for them so it was great in that the atmosphere was mental!!! proper lost my head in that :)

MAXIMO FANTASTICO were bloody fantastic :) :) :) :)

from the first cord to the very last i dont think i breathed i was that excited!! personal highlight was books and girls and urge. loved how archis and duncan really lost themselves , it was beyond words. and paul better watch his back as lucas is dominating the stage at the moment! speaking of Mr smith( who9 i spotted gettin into dizzie rascal side stage) he was  great, really pushing the songs to the furthest he possibly could, at one point i thought his veins would explode. got some fantastic photos ( and the my beloved set list) which i shall put on my website in the next few weeks. i'll post a link when i have.

and last but not least

Bloc Party! they were great, it's the first iv seen them since V06 so it was great tio hear how the new songs have come along so well. i was still way to hyper from maximo's set to remeber the first few songs but i really enjoyed it. still cant decide which song was my fav from their set yet.... my attention span is at minimum today as iv had 5 hours sleep :'(
