Another good album, again not very original but the songs are good enough as long as you don't take your lyrics seriously. Similarly to the last album it's nothing groundbreaking, taking obvious influences from the whole classic rock spectrum but this time the lyrics are even more cheesy.....in fact they are a constant stream of classic rock cliches and about as deep as Britney Spears memoirs.
That should not detract from the fact that the album is very listenable and i'm sure will be fantastic live.
It's worth ignoring any southern rock references. I'm not suggesting they are not from the South as that's a geographical fact, it's just some of the reviews i've seen seem to name check Skynyrd and Molly Hatchet. I'll concede one line in 'Devil's Queen' does say 'down by the muddy banks of the bayoux,' and there is a bit of Skynyrdesque soloing at the end of the same song, but on that qualifying critera you may as well call Metallica a southern rock band because they covered Tuesday's Gone.

Man I love this album, it's such a feel-good, uplifting album just like the predecessor. It's got everything from heavy southern rock to the softer acoustic stuff to chill you out! If you liked the previous album, you'll love this. Reaching number 1 on the Rock Top 10 and number 23 in the UK Top 40 says it all really! That's how good it is.
Bring on the tour in December!!

I really wanted to like this. The cover looks good and the first album was great; contemporary Heavy Rock with a kind of 60's and 70s twist. This album however is over produced, and bland with little present of what made the first one intresting. If you really want this kind of commercial anthemic rock then listen to Bryan Adams or Bon Jovi. If you yearn for 60s and 70s Southern Rock rock with real class then listen to Lynyrd Skynrd and The Allman Brothers....both 100 times more interesting than this. And if you really know that nusic you'll agree....

Folklore and superstition being the second release from rockers black stone cherry. this album is a slightly different approach to the first album but its definatly an outstanding album. The lyrics of each song are composed to perfection and the music comes together smoothly.
the songs that stick out the most to my mind are blind man, please come in and things my father said. Each have their individulaity, for exmaple blind man has some great guitar riffs and the song things my father said is a heart felt song, the feelings for the singer are felt through the entire song and the song as a whole song really touches you when you listen to it.
This album is amust buy for any rock fan, especially those into soundgarden and the likes of the allman brothers!
an album not to be missed!

After being blown away by their incredible self titled debut,I have been salivating over the release of this album for some time..after hearing Blind Man,I felt reassured that this was going to be corker of a follow up...er..not quite...over produced to the point of diminishing the power chords and monster riffs we loved on the first album..go back and hire whoever produced the first album...secondly,the songs..mmm..Blind Man,Devils Queen,Sunrise,Peace is Free,Soul Creek,Ghost of Floyd Collins..all pretty strong, while lacking the raw intensity of any of the songs from the first album(asides from Blind Man)...the rest of the songs on offer are bland, middle of the road forgettable stuff we hear too all too often...it's almost like they ran out of time and they used songs they were going to bin or were unfinished...there wasn't a weak song on the first album..every song was just exceptional...I hope they can return to their original form for the next release as they ARE an exceptional band...maybe Folklore will grow on me oneday...
