Biffy Clyro
Live @ Brixton Academy - 21.11.07
It is an extra special night in London tonight. Biffy Clyro areplaying the penultimate show of their biggest ever UK headline tour and they've pulled out all the stops.
Inviting a string quartet along to help beef up the sound for two tracks from their #1 album
Puzzle ('9/15ths' and
'Living Is A Problem Because Everything Dies'), Biffy look resplendent in dark suits, up against the majestic stage setup.
Brixton Academy is absolutely heaving tonight and every song the Scottish trio plays seems to be a crowd-pleasing hit. When they bring out old friend Mike Vennart of support act
Oceansize, to play on '9/15ths' as well, yet another dimension is added.
Old classic
'Glitter and Trauma' was accompanied by a shower of glitter tickets falling from the sky. Needless to say, the crowd showed their appreciation completely and consistently while Biffy plough through their impressive back catalogue.
The last surprise comes during the encore. The band announced at
that it would be the last time they played the haunting ballad, 'Folding Stars' but Vennart joined Biffy onstage once more for a beautifully touching rendition of the hit song.
