A fantastic show, and cornell was excellent, dispite what a previous revewer said he wasn't GLAZED or STONED, he'd been sober for some years by this show. yes it's a little raw in places but isn't that what rock is about? a bit rough around the edges? if you want prerecorded quality go and watch a boy band mime! ;-) a really worthwhile purchace.

As the first American band to play Cuba this should have been brilliant, but thanks to Cornell it was awful. Don't get me wrong I'm a fan of R.A.T.M.and Soungarden, and I did think of Cornell as a great singer/lyricist, but this is shocking.

Cornell seems to be in a world of his own with glazed eyes, vacant stare and half assed singing. Poor monitoring may have explained him straining early on, but it's soon obvious he's not up to it. The vocals go off key, he makes some strange sounds, mumbles the words and generally drags his heels.

As someone who's been in a some bands with less than great singers I picked up on the bands body language, and I recognise "that" look. They're not happy with the show; Cornell MUST have been on something?

Borrow for the comedy value, but dont pay money for this!

Brilliant band, and performace in Cuba... However the audio and video are about half a second out, which is really irritating when watching... Brad his a symbol and then the sound Grrrrrrr.... ruins the whole showing.

I'm not quite sure why this DVD fails to ignite but there is just something missing. The track listing is great, the music is competent and, mostly, the singing is good (although not great). The DVD opens with a small montage of band Cuban cultural shots but a minute or so in you find yourself with the band onstage, bright lights, introducing their first song. There's no build up whatsoever that helps you share the crowds excitement waiting for the band to come on. Ignoring that minor flaw the music kicks in well for Set It Off. Cornell’s vocals start up at full throttle, but this is where one problem lies. When the vocals need to push up a level for the chorus it’s not possible for him to give more. As a consequence he sounds like he’s straining for the full song. Not out of tune but not dynamic.I can see why some reviews have been critical of the vocals, but to be fair I think that after the opener they are pretty good throughout. If you make it through to the acoustic Black Hole Sun when the rest of the band leave the stage you can see he’s hitting the notes and this is a fine performance, as is the following track I am the Highway. Perhaps that’s because he is only competing against an acoustic guitar in the live mix.As I said earlier the music is good. However, I think there is a problem in that the music is so crisp and clear that it’s almost like you’re not listening to a live show. This contrasts to Cornell’s voice which clearly is raw and live. The way the DVD is mixed emphasises this contrast and lets the vocals down badly.Again although the music is proficient, it lacks kick. This set was played before they released and toured the new album, it’s hardly a surprise that it’s a little pedestrian. The cinematography doesn’t really help spark it up either, spending too long on Cornell’s face when it should be covering a drum roll or lead/bass fill. Why the three stars rather than less? The above comments are the reason it falls short of a classic issue. The DVD is not poor it’s just not what it could have been. It’s always great to see Tom Morello in action throttling his guitar and there are a loads of shots of his minimalist, but highly imaginative, guitar wizzardry. As mentioned above Cornell shines in the acoustic section. Finally, once you get past the cheesy opening to the documentary extra where, no doubt for the benefit of the American audience, they appear wow’d that people with a culture do exist in Cuba…and indeed they have two arms and two legs……..it good to see the band off the stage both mixing with the locals and in several interview situations. Although I’m not likely to watch that twice.

Having read the first two reviews on this DVD I was sceptical about buying this DVD but in the end my girlfriend bought it for me! I just watched it this morning and I think that those reviews were too judgemental. OK, Cornell's voice in the first few songs (particularly 'Set It Off') is nothing short of disasterous but the rest of the concert is brilliant. The more they play the more confident they become.I think by the time they reach 'Doesn't Remind Me' they are in full swing. Cornell's voice is back on track and you begin to feel the energy between the band and the audience. Naturally when the Rage crew slip in 'Bull's On Parade' the audience start to lose their heads a bit. But, hey, you can't blame them! Cornell has the audience hanging on his every word during his acoustic version of 'Black Hole Sun' and you can feel the anticipation as the build up to 'Cochise' begins for the finale.Overall, definately worth buying for a very solid performance for two-thirds of their time on stage but just try and bear with Cornell on the first few tracks as he warms up.
