One year on and its still regularly talked about & heard on the radio.
Some great tracks on this album. Half Light is a great addition to the playlist, its got some brilliant keyboard backing which works really well with the guitar mixing. It's a wonder this song hasn't been performed live though. I suppose it would be too difficult to capture the same majestic essence on stage.

I see the one and two star reviewers have nothing to whine about other than the lead singer's 'crying' voice, bringing the songs down(?) but believe it or not this has always been his style of singing and adds to the bands identity & charismatic sound. It's obvious the general R&B/ pop music fans can't grasp something different (and wouldn't understand anyway).
In my opinion, this band excels from the Colplay boom with a brighter future than Chris Martin's wishy-washy droans of misery.
Listen carefully to Tourist and you'll see Athlete has the world at their feet.

I must admit this is my first album from them, but I'm totally satisfied :) I highly recomended to Cold Play fans. Besides the 2 most famous songs (Wires and Half Light)I higly recomend siong no. 3 - tourist, and song no. 6 - If I found out.In teh end, it makes you want more....

The tough sophmore album... how many times have we heard that!?! Certainly this is different to V&A - less feel good summer pop, more measured and thoughtful. I disagree with people when they say it is too much like coldplay et al - there are still the trademark sparky synth additions and the quirky lyrics. This album is quality from the majestic and rolling opener 'chances' right to being charmingly played out by 'i love'. buy it. play it. love it.
