It's funny how a song title can sometimes seem misleading. Perhaps because it shares its name with a weapon system, I expected Ash's brand new single to be an axe-driven rocker after reading it was called 'Polaris'. I got something of a shock when I actually heard it - but a shock in the best possible sense.

'Polaris' is the second single to be taken from forthcoming album 'Twilight Of The Innocents' (and if those two tracks are anything to go by, it's going to be an absolute corker). It's a sweeping, emotive ballad along similar lines to the band's seminal 'Shining Light'; the kind of song that makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up and tears spring to your eyes. Absolutely beautiful. It deserves to be a huge hit - No.1 for 27 weeks would be about right - but, as a quick glance at the charts will confirm, there's no justice in this world.

Ash may have lost Charlotte but they haven't lost any of the old magic. My favourite single of the year so far, by a country mile. I cannot wait to hear the album!
